I'm confused about whether you are in favor of progress or not. I would think bride price and dowry would be right up your alley.

nobodys forcing anybody to get married

but the pressure of staying married and rasing kids in the 1950's and 60's I think made for a better more central family unit and a philosophyyto make your family proud get out there and be somebody

whether its coincidental or not the decline of the family --the less children to one mom and one dad who stayed in the home--the fluidity of the typical family unit with single moms single dads etc etc---is semiresponsible for more and more people living off of the government or mooching off of others and not trying to make it on their own.

my son got contacted by stryker yesteerday because they cant find anyone to fill a semi entry level job. stryker is a fortune 500 company. he put a generic resume on line 4 years aago at one of these headhunter joints and they called him last week. the prevailing attitude is I make more money not doing anything but collecting unemployment/foodstamps/disability from wherever I can get it. so my son gets an excellent shot at a 50K entrylevel job that only 2 other people applied for

like it or not having the same mom and dad married-- raising you Has to be more stable then mom trying to raise you and your other siblings with 3-4 surrogate daddies/boyyfriends along the way of you growing up adding more siblings

not to say good single families dont exist because we all know some single/non traditional relationships can work just fine

but overall whatever society can dpo to encourage marriage and the relatively stable traditional family unit the better off society is as a whole.

government as a whole makes that traditional family unit obsolete by watering down the definition of marriage, paying people not to work to the tune of 47 mil on food stamps alone not to mention the other subsidy program out their , telling religions how they have to behave and what their health organizations must do, doing little or nothing to stem the illegal aliens that swallow up jobs and resources.

the fact is that my generation was god fearing and father fearing and today's generations are unaffected by family dynamics and relgious morals.

don't get me wrong I think most religions are archaic and self serving and just as corrupt as a lot of big business but we didn't know that when i was growing up.

but right now the path seems to be to many people living off of too many other people who are getting sick and tired of it.

"the prevailing attitude is I make more money not doing anything but collecting unemployment/foodstamps/disability from wherever I can get it."

You can only get unemployment if you can prove that you were laid off, and then they base it on your highest quarter of earnings in the last year of work. So I don't think too many people who really didn't ever have a job are getting unemployment and those who had low paying jobs are only getting a fraction of what they were making. Not saying there isn't some lying and gaming of the system going on, but nobody out there is sitting back living the high life by collecting unemployment. Food stamps I imagine they basically give out to anyone who asks, but how much? I don't know but I can't believe it's more than a couple hundred dollars a month for a woman with a couple of kids. Yeah, it adds up and yeah they ought to be stricter about passing it out, but I don't think food stamps is what has the economy in this shape. At any rate, it's a fraction of the annual DoD budget (those people get free food, too). Not sure about other subsidy programs. Housing I would guess makes up alot of it...

"Why? Tired of sucking my pole?"

Is this an example of the "lame schtick" you accused Rat of being mired in, Wiz? If so, that's kinda ironic, eh? I realize you are not programmed to understand what that means, but I'm saying it for the others who might be reading along...

Jindal is a future R presidential candidate. After the D's impose gay marriage on all 50 states, Jindal will require that they also be arranged.
