Pitiful effort. No joy in a victory like that, but it was nice to have a stress free game to clinch the East.

The players quit trying weeks ago. The coaches quit trying weeks ago. I was waiting for a rash of delay of game penalties because our players were busy texting their friends in the huddle. This is what Chizik's leadership has reduced us to.
Congrats. Now go beat Bama. I now think that's a real possibility. I didn't think that last week.

Georgia's offensive line will have to play better than it has all year to have a shot.

Murray will have to play like Johnny Football too.
You also have the disadvantage of Bama having from now until the SECCG to prepare for you. The Iron Bowl will be such a light workout for them they'll have to schedule extra S&C workouts to compensate.

Emerges from primordial ooze...
Greetings, chowderheads!
Said goodbye to my gall bladder a couple of months ago...Auburn did the same thing to their football season at about the same time. I miss pizza and wings, but I miss gallstones and projectile vomiting much less. Laparoscopic surgery is pretty damned efficient, I must say.
Went to the A&M-Auburn game...first time in Auburn on a game weekend since 1991. I managed to find all of the places I lived while in school and they are still active places of residence. The lemonade at Toomer's is still kick-ass, seeing the trees for the first time since the poisoning made me sad and angry...walked to class many a day right past them and now they look absolutely pitiful. I was in split wardrobe mode and got some quizzical looks until I explained the circumstances. Lots of "welcome to Auburn", which was ironic to me, but it was nice seeing the place again through the eyes of a visitor.
It has become very apparent that Chizik is truly the emperor with no clothes on and that he is a fired coach walking at this point. He stumbled into a once-in-a-generation talent and managed not to screw it up, which is about all of the credit I can muster. If his recruiting classes are as talented as the pundits said they were, then the next coach has some material to work with, provided he doesn't suck, too.
The two worst AU teams I remember in the last 30-35 years prior to this year were 1980 and 1998...1980 was AU's last winless SEC season (prior to this year...yes, I'm conceding the IB) and Doug Barfield's last. 1998 was the post-Dameyune Craig hangover and the year when Tater Tot's mediocre recruiting could not be concealed any longer. I will give the '98 team credit for at least not quitting and not getting shitkicked repeatedly. This year's group is way more talented from a physical standpoint than '98 and they have gotten cornholed multiple times and looked like they opened up a giant can of quit against A&M and Georgia both.
A&M's season has been a revelation...did not see this coming at all. I was hoping they'd manage 7-5.
TL, DR version: I'm alive and basically well. AU football sucks.

BF, glad to know you are alive and well, despite your gallbladder issues. Your summary is quite appropriate.
This is the worst AU football team I have ever seen. We have hit rock bottom and have begun to dig. We share that dubious distinction with Tennessee.
Congrats on your other team's performance. They were impressive against Bama. Johnny Football is a beast. He may win the Heisman as a sophomore. I wouldn't mind if AU hired Sumlin as our next coach, although that won't happen.
The current rumors on the AU message boards are: Chizik stays one more year, half the fan base really wants Petrino while the other half hates him, Malzahn is very popular, Jimbo Fisher is a safe choice, Charlie Strong is in the mix, and there is a widespread fear that we'll hire another bargain basement coach, like some unknown assistant from the Sun Belt.

How quickly it goes back to P,YAAM... you have not hit rock bottom. Rock bottom and continuing to dig would be having a poor coaching staff, poor recruiting, and being on probation... AU is currently missing out on 2 of those three things. Please feel free to git bizzy
I honestly don't think it's Chizik. I do think the Troopa and Loopa show should be cancelled. They are recruiting stars, not quality, and that does not leave you with a strong team environment.
Folks can say what they want about Saban. His "process" works.

Poor recruiting will probably happen next February after this dumpster fire of a season and (hopefully) a new coaching staff. Probation will start whenever the REC decides the time is right.

Tell me you don't think the REC wasn't ready during the Cam affair... Yellafella >>>>>>>>>>>>>> REC.

Have you noticed, when we were good, the rumor mill was always running wild about Auburn. Sheridan had identified the bagman who paid Cam, and was waiting for his lawyer's permission to name names. There was a cell phone that would show massive texts and calls between Auburn and Cecil negotiating a price for Cam, but that phone was accidentally submerged in water. Lowder and McGregor had snitched on Auburn to save their hides in their own legal troubles. Some radio guy/Bama grad had tapes of Cecil and Cam taking money, and was going to play them on his show. etc, etc, etc.
Now that we suck, and aren't a threat to anybody, all those rumors about Auburn being dirty suddenly stopped. Strange.

So Alabama is a 31.5 or 32 point favorite Saturday...I can't recall either team being that big a favorite over the other. Pitiful. My official prediction is 52-7 Alabama...we get a garbage time TD pass from 62-year-old Pat Sullivan to 46-year-old Lawyer Tillman.

Heh. Sounds about right. Maybe that 7 points will be scored by the '57 team.
