Good to see the Marlins picking up the baton for fugliest uniforms that the Devil Rays so shamelessly dropped a few years ago.

nearly 20 years later, the Marlins finally heeded my suggestion that they should be the Miami, not Florida, Marlins.

who wants my next great prophecy?

They couldn't sell "Florida" anymore anyway, not when they decided to move into the old Orange Bowl site. There's no way in hell people in central Broward County and on up through Palm Beach County are going to bother to drive all the way down to Little Havana, where parking is sparce, the crime rate (in that particular part of Little Havanna) is high and traffic on either of I-95 or the Turnpike is off-the-chain brutal.

Basically, the Marlins have decided that their market size is really about similar to Cincinnati's and Pittsburgh's, which is fine. With the new yard, if they can figure out a way to draw about 24K / game, they should be able to be a lot more competitive on a consistent basis.

Holy crap, that's a lot to give up for one arm. Damn. Not happy about that now. Hopefully it will work out alright. At least it wasn't involving St. Louis, so we know Jock didn't have Cards blinders on.

This also seems to signal that they plan to make a run at keeping Votto beyond his current contract. I just don't see how that is possible if they plan to keep their payroll anywhere near its current level. Not after 40 year old Pujols gets retarded money to play 1b/DH in Anaheim.

This guy better be fucking good because Alonzo alone I would do just like Volquez / Hamilton (at the time). They overspent and lost a hell of a lot of ammo for the trade deadline if they are in it. Votto is here for two more years, if that. Not digging this trade yet.

I guess the Reds are really going all or nothing for 2012. Sad thing is, these moves aren't for mega names, so Reds fans will probably stay away for awhile unless the team goes out to a big lead early in the division. If attendace is still mediocre by the all-star break, Castellini may decide ther is just no pleasing Cincy fans and not bother to increase pay-roll for a play-off push.
