oh I don't know - I wasn't thinking about office space - more just holding development land.

For the fundriser part, you're just buying stock in small business. They said the serious investor probably won't put money into it because of so many small business' that fail, but hobby investors would do it.

I know she's a socialist, but I am loving me some Michelle, lately. Ever since the reelection, she's been chillin'. Hanging out in Hawaii for however long she wants (I don't blame her), having fun with the Heat (I hope she got some), and looking pretty hot....Good for her.

The Obama's have certainly been more pop culture than any other president. They find time to have fun - and while I admit, if I think he is doing a particularly shitty job, it irks me to see him on the golf course or Hawaii, they do relate to a younger generation better than any president, even Clinton who wanted to have sex with all of them.

The Virginia governor is going down over $165K in loans and gifts? That is amateur hour, they owe millions on beach front homes and their mansion - a competent governor would have had that shit paid off within 6 months in office

The thing is, they probably did not break any VA laws (possibly federal, it seems)...but they were madly unethical for small change. The ordeal has wrung the wife dry, too. She wasn't Miss America beforehand, but holy shit she looks roughed up nowadays.

there is another story about the Chef they selected and he started keeping tabs on all the petty shit they did - like their kids taking a case of gatorade with them to college. A bunch of staff quit as well because the wife was a complete bitch, asking them to do things like pick up tampons for her at 2am. The chief of staff made the staff workers turn off their phones at 10pm because she was so out of control with that stuff.

I guess my original point is that only doing $165K worth of shit in political office is what passed for a choir boy in our standards today. I can't believe that CEO had as much pull as he did for such a small amount of money.

Unlike most other states, taking the money is not against the law. It's doing something in return for the gifts that has him in trouble.

I didn't read it because politics bores the shit out of me. What favors did he & she do? Just curious.

Set up meetings with government staff and let him use the state residence for a soiree designed to boost the profile of whatever product his company was pushing.

That's the bill of three Republican senators. I doubt it gets any further than that.

BEfore that, I doubt the majority of Senators and very little of the House support it. Until the House comes up with a credible alternative, I don't going anywhere

the GOP shouldn't be coming up with an alternative anyways. The conservative solution should be a free market solution.

Ha. Politics is bullshit, they just do whatever the fuck they want to achieve whatever short term fucking goal they have. Nobody really gives a flying fuck about having a platform or sticking to it. Hell it's a miracle when they can just work in the proper channels without just short circuiting the whole thing. The municipalities in Houston's transit authorities voted to build 5 light rail lines in the early 2000's and it passed. SO basically voters approved 5 lines, but there was some scuttlebutt about routing and such, and some of the suburban repubs (ie Tom Delay and John Culberson) in this area, naturally opposed it which is fine, but what kills me is the bullshit method that politics ends up playing out. What people voted on doesn't mean shit. Just recently, it has become a FEDERAL LAW, attached to a bill by John Culberson, that the federal government is not allowed to fund 2 of those rail lines. For basically no reasons except one asshole is against it and had enough power to attach it to House bill. No problem with spending the money anywhere else for rail, just not for those lines.

This same dick put up a billboard after I-10 was widened for $3 Billion taking all the credit for it, like he singlehandedly built the damned freeway.
