I've been watching AAF football
can't decide if its enjoyable or not. I"ve watched 2 games. I recognize a few players, many of the coaches.
If you just like watching football you'd enjoy it. The Birmingham Iron played mostly in front of an empty stadium tonight.

Been watching it too. Not bad. 2nd string vs. 2nd string. Lots of mistakes but its not bad. The rules are weird though. Some I like, some I dont.

I was thinking - they should move this league up to the fall, populate with the preseason teams and play 8 games, and eliminate the preseason from the NFL

As much as I like SOS and his team playing in town, I just don't buy year-round football. I need that 6+ months away from the sport to appreciate it when it returns in September.

kinda cool to hear the mike inside the replay officials and the coach/qb
but its golf/baseball/ncaaBB/autoracing timeof year--I agree with the previous caller

The Iron had 17,000 in attendance! That's better than a UAB game.

it looked empty on TV, but 17K is pretty good I would think

Legion Field seats 72K. 17k would make it look empty. I wonder what the rest of the AAL did in attendance? I don't know how many they were expecting or how many they need to break even.

yea I liked that. The announcers were picking up the plays and telling you what they were. I amazed I didn't here fuckity fuck fuckface fuck every time , those guys were pretty well constrained although one guy didn't drop some and the announcers apologized for it.
Birmingham has a real team. They have a kicker that was 4 for 4, Perez - no idea who he is without looking him up was an accomplished passer, Patton is a very good wide receiver and they have Trent Richardson who may not ever be an NFL player again but he's shredding those guys.

ok, so Perez was a former Rams QB...that explains it.
also, I like their choice of name - Birmingham Iron
I have a feeling they're going to keep it stocked with Bama and Auburn players as much as possible.

That’s possible with Auburn, but not Bama. Tide players go to the NFL.

No. The USFL poached star players from the NFL and was their enemy. This is more like AAA baseball and the NFL gave their blessing.

I still can't believe how badly the replay official fucked up the call in the Birmingham/Memphis game.
