Dallas Theological Seminary and Reformed Theological Seminary here.

With all that dispensationalism and 5 point Calvinism, it's a wonder I'm still here.
I'm not quite that old - I started there in '89.

I served as Visiting Supply Pastor of a Presbyterian Church for 3.5 years. They wanted to offer me a permanent call - I wasn't all that interested, but I was going to take the ordination exam for kicks and giggles. I went to a study group for the "Theology in the Reformed Tradition" portion, stayed awake for 10 minutes and confirmed that I didn't want to be one of the frozen chosen.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

That does not mean he likes girls.

1 - Any male clergy in any faith tradition that includes the wearing of mitres by anyone in the hierarchy automatically carry an presumption of homosexuality, regardless of marital status.

2 - Any male clergy who serve or study in San Francisco, Atlanta, Orlando, Austin, Portland, Boston, Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona or London also carry that same presumption.

I assume that church was PCUSA. I'm surprised they are interested in "Theology in the Reformed Tradition." I doubt any of them ever read Calvin. Tillich, Schleiermacher, Bultmann, sure. But not Calvin.

In a Presbyterian seminary, I tried to believe Calvinism, but in the end, I just couldn't believe that God created some people for the express purpose of damning them. Free will is a beautiful thing.

Free will is an illusion both in the real world and in the fantasy land you live in with your omni god.

No, I didn't. We are nothing but a bag of chemicals (or if you really want to drill down, quantum fields), that we can't control. Free will doesn't exist.

So did Bruce Jenner.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Correct - PCUSA. They care because it's on the exam, which hasn't changed since 1913. And yes - Tillich is iconic. (I like Tillich, too).

Presbyterian Church in America? Evangelical Presbyterian Church? Orthodox Presbyterian Church? (the latter is a real thing)

I am very familiar with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. There are not many of them, but one is down the road from us and they fit well with us fundys; however, I was referring to the reformed movement in the Southern Baptist seminaries today.

When I was in a Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) seminary (Reformed), everyone thought very highly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and their seminary (Westminster). The joke was that serious theologians went Up north to Westminster while Reformed was a lowly preacher college down in Mississippi.

I'm surprised that Reformed theology is on the rise in Baptist circles. Most PCA people I knew were former Southern Baptists who had been to college and were looking for a little scholarship and dignity.

With your denigration of free will, you and Cletus sound a lot like old school Presbyterians.

With omnipotent god(s), free will is illusory.
