And if Okie State gets in this year then the Iowa State game would be meaningless.

And if there were playoff games, any loss that didn't keep you out would be meaningless and every win for teams left out would be meaningless.

No that's not true at all. It would be factored in, just like everything else. If it were meaningless, than Ok. St would be undefeated and ranked second going into this game and this game would be the biggest game of the weekend on TV. There would be no colorable argument from Alabama at all. The winner of the BCS championship game if between Ok. St and LSU would be the winner in all polls and the best Alabama could ever claim would be second after all the bowls.

Yes...the "game of the century" ended up being basically just another Iowa State-Oklahoma State game.

Well, if Bama gets in, the the loss to LSU was not a title game rule out. If Okie State gets in, then their loss to Iowa State was not a title game rule out.

I also find it fairly interesting that nobody is mentioning the fact that LSU and Alabama had basically the easiest possible SEC West schedules this year. Of course LSU will actually get to rectify that by playing Georgia (in a meaningless game)

Alabama's OOC schedule: Kent State, # 23 Penn State, Georgia Southern, North Texas.

LSU's OOC schedule: Western Kentucky, Northwestern State, #3 Oregon, #16 West Virginia

Alabama played Tennessee, Florida and Vandy from the East. Tenn and Fla have traditionally been good teams. This year two of those three will get a bowl game - and one of those teams is Vandy.

Anyway, why would it be noteworthy?

Second thought. Don't answer that. I am officially tired of this subject until Saturday or Sunday.

It is a wierd year in the SEC when two traditional powerhouses from the East - Tennessee AND Florida - both suck. Georgia won the East almost by default.

Any scenario which has Alabama playing for the national championship must be a reflection of all that is good.

Fuck you, Prof. Georgia won the East by going 7-1 in the SEC and having the best QB in the league. Did we spank dat ass 45-7 by default? Like I said, fuck you.

DDAL, you went 7-1 against the 8 worst teams in the SEC. None of the 7 teams you beat are ranked. The two teams that beat you ARE ranked.

Just sayin'...

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Georgia. And normally, I cheer for Georgia in every game they play except when they play Auburn. If they circumstances were only slightly different, this would be true for the SECCG.

But if UGA were to beat LSU, then Bama would wind up playing some schmuck team like Okie State in the BCSCG, and would easily blow them out. That is just plain unacceptable. LSU is the only team in the country that can beat Bama. So I've gotta go with LSU in the SECCG.

And besides, LSU will dominate the Dawgs anyway.
