"UN says meth boom sweeping Asia"

They all look like they've been smoking weed. You can blindfold those people with dental floss...

"In China, methamphetamine is the second most popular drug of choice among the country's more than two million registered users, after heroin."

2 million????? That's like 2 dozen in the United States.
Britain got Tea, Silk, spice and rum for flooding China with opium. What are we getting for our meth? Low interest government loans?

The Boxer Rebellion was in large part against the opium trade. It was defeated not just by the British but also by Austria-Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, and the United States. We all liked that opium. Of course now? We don't need China for our meth.

One of my favorite old movies with Charlton Heston, David Niven and Ava Gardner

Honestly, heroin gets a bad rap. It's probably the least debilitating drug I know of (I'm including all opiates, morphine, dilaudid, oxy, any of them, they're all basically the same). They don't fuck up your thought process at all, it's like you're not really fucked up mentally at all, just kinda relaxed and chilled out. Every other drug scrambles your brain to some extent (in terms of your thought process). I won't say that it's a good idea to drive if you're on opiates, b/c they do impair your motor skills (although not as much as almost any other drug), but you can go to work, read a book, watch a movie, whatever, and you'll have about the same reaction and opinion as you would if you weren't doing anything. I can't say the same about any other drug I can think of, even pot. Can you imagine reading a book or trying to do your job after smoking crack or getting drunk or taking exstacy? It just doesn't happen...

never really thought I'd read the "pro" side of Heroin. Usually people just focus on the "con"

Like most illegal drugs, but to an even greater extent, heroin was demonized by its association with minorities, in this case, asians and, of course, blacks (the universal scapegoat). It's not fair, but then, nothing is...

Seen too many people I knew die from heroin. More than booze x2. I'd rather my kids drink if they become addicted to something. Which they just might with my genes.

There is certainly a danger of overdose if one is using opiates intravenously. Smoking, pill popping or snorting, not so much. However, a goodly portion of that danger comes from having to use a product that is totally unregulated. You don't really ever know what you're getting. I'd bet that deaths due to pharmeceutical (sp?) narcotics is much lower than heroin. Not saying it doesn't happen, but when you know that what you're getting is a consistent, pure product, the danger of OD'ing is lessened significantly. But again, I don't mean to discount the potential danger of intravenous drug use, although I would say that it is no different for cocaine as it is for heroin, and yet cocaine is not nearly as demonized as heroin (crack is another story, but again, that's b/c it is associated with the universal scapegoat, blacks)...

Also, the potential for death by heroin is much more instantaneous than with booze. Just b/c you haven't seen friends die from booze yet doesn't mean it's not going to happen. And of course, death from complications directly related to cigarettes is off the charts compared with all other drugs combined, but until recently, growing tobacco was not only legal, but subsidized by the government. Go figure...

No, it is full speed ahead with Obamacare. He don't give a shit about those Dems, he don't need them. He has passed everything he has wanted and now he just needs to hunker down and keep it alive through 2016 when we will be too much invested in it.

I've seen quite a few friends die from booze. Or more the fact of withdrawal. Even found a few dead myself. At least they knew what they were buying. With heroin, you just don't know what you're buying. How can you control your dose if you're not sure?
