so, according to AA, head coaches only work from Sept.to January. They have no offseason duties from Jan. thru August.
Bama doesn't recruit? monitor offseason conditioning programs? hold spring practices? hold a spring game? the coaches don't do the fundraising circuits at alumni events?
if Price participated in ANY of those activities while getting paid by Alabama from Dec. thru May.....he was the head coach of the Crimson Tide during that time.

Clearly the only reason any of us care about this is due to the very slim chance that it annoys AA, but honestly, how much coaching goes on during a game? Seems like all of the real coaching goes on during the preseason and then during practices between games. I don't see why standing on the sideline during a game should be the primary metric of what constitutes "coaching" in any sport...

That and with Shiny, Talent, Million, PSA, Sav's Grandson and Kitty gone, we have precious little else. "AA, Disrobe!" doesn't have the same lilt.

Esp. when you have to imagine that colostomy bag hanging on his side, thanks to the total removal of his intestines by his dead surgeon...

In a sincere effort to banish that mental image from my mind, here's this:
Auburn's president just released this:
A Message to the Auburn Family about Auburn Football
The Auburn spirit is part of everything we do – in the classroom and beyond. It includes the spirit we show when we support those who represent us on the playing field.
Later today, Auburn students and the local community will gather to cheer on the football team as they practice. I encourage others to follow their example by coming together and getting behind the young men who wear the orange and blue each fall Saturday.
In the past few weeks, many of you have contacted me, and I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to share your thoughts about the football program. I know your concerns are sincere and heartfelt, and I share many of them. As we do every year, the football program will be evaluated in an objective, thorough and professional process.
For everything there is a time, and now is the time to support. The young men and women – our students – who make up Auburn University are grateful for the dedication of their extended Auburn Family. So am I.
War Eagle!

Auburn Tigers = Florida Marlins
Buy a championship team for one year and then go into the shitter for a bunch of years afterwards

Dave,
In the three months Price was here, he did precious little but drink.
Alabama has people who hold events and raise funds. Sometimes coaches help. I'm not aware of any Price did here. But even if he did, 'fundraising' is not a critical and necessary component of me recognizing someone as head coach. Ditto all those other things you mentioned. The critical and necessary component is actually coaching a real game. Until then, Price was the presumptive coach. He was in the on-deck circle, but he never got an official at-bat.

As Auburn fans argue over the possible hiring of Bobby Petrino, here is the latest rage in Halloween costumes in Arkansas:
That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

Well, me and Mike Price have the same head ball coach record at Bama. Which is exactly the same as prof's, hedge's, and GBJ's record.
Hell, I've done fundraising, been paid by UA, and been to more practices and games than Price ever hoped to attend! From now on, call me coach.

All you need is for Bama to hire you on TV as head football coach and start paying you for services rendered as head coach and maybe move into the office of head coach and start conducting business as head coach. And if you get into trouble, announce to the media that you refuse to step down as head coach. Then we'll call you coach just like we do Price, who did all those things.
Here's a question that you would know the answer to: on what business was Price doing in that infamous trip to Pensacola? And on whose Visa card was his immortal "Date with Destiny" charged? His or Bama's?

Hire me on TV? Dear lord ...if they did hire me on that thar TeeeeeeeVeeeeee, I'd be the presumptive coach until I did the essential part of my job.
What was Price doing? Drinking and playing golf. I do that every weekend. Likewise, having a UA credit card does not make you the head coach. I know several people with UA credit cards who have a title other than head ball coach.
