I think the whole godparent thing means more to catholics than protestants.

We were Lutheran at the time which is about two steps down from Catholic.

I'm not sure how serious we were to take the whole godparent thing. All 4 of us got divorced about a year after that and things got complicated.

One of the things I miss out on by living in NYC (besides 3,500 more square feet for the same price) is not having a dog...

I love dogs. But I'm not traveling with a dog and I'm not paying extravagant dollars to house them

I'm paying $280 to have my dogs kept while I'm on vacation next week. I'm sick about it too

We usually just get somebody to come over to the house and feed them and let them out. Usually one of the kid's derelict friends who no doubt use the house for private orgies and whatnot. The thought of that pleases me...

our neighbor across the street watches dogs but she charges $65 a day for two dogs. I'd be all for someone coming out and letting the dogs out twice a day but my wife is terrified of someone pilfering thru our stuff

Even a friend of the kids? Just shut off an area for the dogs to stay in and tell the kid not to open any closed door or else an alarm will go off. Or does you wife not even want them scarfing a spoonful of mayonnaise?

If it wasn't Xmas, I'm sure we could find someone but we just can't find someone who has a free enough schedule to come by twice a day for 6 days straight. Hell, even Rat has something to do over Xmas. We fucked ourselves because we were counting on her mope sister to be at home but she is in a relationship we didn't find out about until last week and is going away to meet her new man's family. Since we're taking both mothers on the vacation with us, we can't dump the dogs on them.

So its $280 in Kennel fees. I just won't take the extended fambly out for dinner and drinks like I normally do this year and call it even.

Somehow I got roped into bulding one of those fucking wooden jungle gyms on Xmas day for my niece and nephew - you know the kind that are bigger than a dorm room - with swings, rope, monkey bars, a rock climbing wall and a fort at the top? I asked them to send me a link to it and it says it takes two people 6-8 hours.

WTF? I don't even like those retarded A.D.D. little bastards and I'm doing major construction for them. Will they watch my dogs for me in return? Fuuuuuuck no they won't, they only like cats.

That was easy for baby boomers. There were so many of us crumb snatchers around, it was easy for us to have good kids who would feed the dog. Plus, in Houston, we kept our dogs outside. The neighborhood kids didn't have to come into the house.

I sense one of the bolts that secures one of the swing chains is going to somehow mysteriously not get screwed in tightly enough. "Look how high I'm swinging!! IIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!"

Heh.

Although, you could have said no on the fort - something tells me being outside and building something alone is probably preferable to being inside with the relatives.

The best part is when the fatty in the white shirt hits the deck and wallows around in terror. A close second is the ladder flying off and hitting the dude inthe head.
