Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Before you're in a hurry to show these kids the door: remember that they played like MOST freshmen do. Terrence Jones was a headcase as a freshman and without Liggins or Harrelson we don't make a Final Four run in '11. MKG and Davis were special, special players, but even they needed Jones and Lamb as sophomores and more importntly Miller as a senior to come up clutch when Louisville and Kansas made their runs in the FF.
A year of maturity may be just what Goodwin, Poythress and WCS need. And just what next year's freshmen will need at some point during the season. I hope they all come back

Wiltjer just has dookie* written all over him to me. Weak ass, tall white boy with an aversion to weightlifting, and who only wants to shoot three-pointers. My guess is he transfers to Oregon. He knows he won't play much at all with that load of talent coming to Lexington.

I want those 3 back
I want Cal to ask Harrow and Wilter to justify what they did to deserve a spot on the team next year.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Wiltjer is a transfer waiting to happen. Spent too much time making rap videos instead of getting in the weight room during the off-season. Since Harrow is already a transfer, I think we're stuck with him.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
From KSR......
In the wake of the most embarrassing loss of his time at Kentucky and probably his entire career, John Calipari was done sugar coating things. With the season over, Cal admitted that this team had some major problems: “The stuff I accepted from this team, the program almost got hijacked.”
Cal said that this season, he’s put up with some things he never would in the past in hopes of “saving some guys.” He said that he wanted to keep coaching in hopes that the light would come on for Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin, and Kyle Wiltjer. Was Sean Woods right at the beginning of the season when he said some of the players weren’t Kentucky material? “Maybe.”
The good news? Cal said that next year, “we are going to have unbelievable competition at every spot. …We will be a tough team next year. I promise you. We will be. Because I can’t sit through that. I can’t take it.” Even better? “Recruiting is in good shape.”
Now, Cal will sit down with players individually to go over their options. He’s already warned them, “you are going to hear the truth.”

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Harrow might thrive as a backup. God knows he didn't want to the starting PG this year

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Arizona lost last year.I wonder if we're the first #1 seed to lose the first game of the NIT
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Just reading some on the exciting NIT match-ups and found out that Southern Miss had a 31 RPI and 23 wins and was left outta the NCAA? The Golden Eagles were apparently the only (eligible) top 50 RPI team left out.
Compare that with Villanova - 19-13 record and more than 20 RPI spots below USM.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
RPI must be mostly record because I'm looking at their schedule and they lost every game of consequence they played all year. Lost to Wichita State, New Mexico State, Arizona, and Louisiana Tech. Lost all three times they played Memphis by double digits. Best wins they can claim are Denver (another NIT team) and UTEP (18-14)AlabamAlum wrote:Just reading some on the exciting NIT match-ups and found out that Southern Miss had a 31 RPI and 23 wins and was left outta the NCAA? Villanova beat Louisville, Syracuse, Georgetown, and Marquette

But Pitino was back in the NCAA title game in 1997...and even Tubby made the Elite 8 in 1999. I guess Joe B. Hall and John Calipari just aren't up to their caliber as coaches...eCat wrote:crotch wrote:1978: Kentucky wins National Championship

More from KSR........
The pledges to return keep rolling in from Moon Township, Pennsylvania. According to the reporters on the scene, the following players have said they will return next season:
Ryan Harrow: “I’ll be here next year.”
Alex Poythress on the NBA: “I’m not ready,” “We’ll get it right next year.”
Archie Goodwin:“If any of us said we should leave, we’d all be delusional.”
Willie Cauley-Stein said he wanted to come back, but wasn’t ready to make any concrete decisions without talking to his family first: “I got this empty feeling and I want to fill it. I want a ring before I leave college. …Right now, it’s looking like I’m coming back.”

Final: Alabama 62, Northeastern 43.
We will likely play Stanford in the next round.

Tubby never missed the NCAA tournament
But he also never missed a paycheck

You know I was right there with you from a fan's standpoint that Tubby needed to go. Mediocrity is sometimes worse than tearing it down and rebuilding.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I love Cal, but Tubby taught me that no coach should ever get a pass - there were a shitload of fans talking about BCG needing 5 years and you could tell by Xmas of his second year we weren't going forward..
That said, Cal hasn't done anything that made me question him. He is a victim of his own success - he didn't anticipate Marquis Teague going pro. I would have loved to have a kid like Larkin playing for us (setting aside the stuff GB was saying about him). Cal whiffed badly on Harrow, and worse, he should have known it. He should have to answer for that but his answer is , yet another #1 recruiting class.
This year will be a hiccup as long as clappy doesn't win a title and Kansas doesn't pass us in all time wins

Southern Miss definitely deserved a bid...
