I was mad as a hornet when we accepted that NIT bid in 2010, but for whatever reason, our players really wanted to win that meaningless tournament. And they almost did. All I wanted was for Nancy Drew to get the Hell out of Chapel Hill. When he hit that game winning layup at Mississippi State, that was the only time in my life that I had a sinking feeling after a Tar Heel victory. I knew his ass wasn't leaving after that.
Didn't realize until I just saw on TV that C.M. Newton was the chairman of the NIT selection committee. IMO, I think Kentucky would have declined the invitation, but in doing so would have embarrassed Newton. Wish they had of though. Not going to be pretty. Baylor will win that bracket.

Kentucky, Alabama, SoMiss, and Virginia are the number 1 seeds in the NIT.
Other teams in...Florida State, Tennessee, Maryland, Stanford and a few other teams in that I wouldn't mind seeing play.

30 for 30
I forgot how crazy that NC State run was. Good doc.
I remember watching that Finals game in '83 and my older brothers forcing me to route for NC State because they were for Houston (and as the youngest, I was not allowed to like who they liked). I liked Hakeem, Clyde and Larry Michaux (sp?), but that victory felt good nevertheless.

also...the biggest downside is that this thing is making me like Coach K, too. NFW it happens, though.

the committee didn't think much of the ACC this year. or the SEC either.
Already had one friend texting me to complain about UNC getting an 8 seed. I said, "Dude, when you're arguing that you should have been a 6 or 7 seed, you've lost all perspective."
how is the Commonwealth handing not making the NCAA again? Mecca must be dancing a little jig tonight.

I remembered that the ACC 3 point line was inside the top of the key, but I forgot how ridiculously it was inside the top of the key.
Back then it was urban legend that Sampson could jump from the ACC 3 point line and dunk.

I like IU's draw if we can get past the 16 seed matchup.
Of course NC State / Temple could be upset in the making.
Should be a fun tourney.

Anybody could win this year. I'll be on the road to Florida this weekend, after vacation baseball starts. I couldn't care less who wins the tourney this year. I won't even watch.

Calipari admits this team doesn't want to play.......
“When I heard we couldn’t host the first round of the NIT, I decided to accept the bid knowing we could host in the second round. I’m not disappointed we have to start on the road because this team needs to prove it wants to continue to play before our fans pay for tickets. If we had to play on the road, I’m glad it was Robert Morris because I knew what it would do for the program.”

that's OK. I started watching at the beginning of the 2nd hour, at the 2nd UVa game and I was tearing up less than 10 min. into it.
