The two NIT Championship banners that used to hang in the rafters have been removed. Only NCAA banners now... and no Helms' one either.

When were the NIT championships? If a long time ago, I think they should've been left.
Wasn't the NIT the premiere tourney in the or days?

I'm in for cash too, assuming there's a buy-in (i.e. everybody contributes to the pot before hand. no chasing dudes for $$$$)

Heard somebody say that if Miami wins today, it will be the first time since NCState in 1974 that a team other than UNC or Dook won the ACC regular season and tourny championships in the same ...

So far in the conference tournys, the 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8th ranked teams have all lost, with 9 and 10 (Miami and Ohio St.) playing today. Louisville won their tourny, but were down by 16 in the second half (although they did come back to win big, not sure what happened to the Cuse). Point being, as if it hasn't been made all season, there is not only no dominant team, but nobody really even slightly better than anybody else in at least the top 20. Tourny is going to be wide open this year. I still say an NCState type of team could win it all this year without it being considered any kind of huge unbelievable run.
I really don't have any confidence that Carolina will make any kind of run (and could easily get blown out today by Miami), but I wouldn't be shocked if we did, either. Says alot more about how I feel about the field than how I feel about Carolina. We've definitely rounded into some kind of decency, but at the same time, we get blown out at home by Dook and could easily be blown out by any good team. But I think we could also beat any team in the tourny, too. Wouldn't be shocked or even mildly surprised with any outcome today, from either team winning a close one or either team winning big. Just a whacky season...

Just saw a commercial for a 30 for 30 presentation on ESPN tonight at 9, "Survive and Advance" about NCState's 1983 run. Is that new? I don't recall seeing it. Definitely going to tune in, either way...

If they said "outright", they were spot on, Hedge. Georgia Tech (1985) and Wake Forest (1995) each tied for the regular season ACC title, before going on to win the conference tourney that season, too.
I still say Louisville looks like the best team in the country.

That's new, Hedge...Supposed to be really, really good. They've been hyping it on sports radio in the Triangle all week.

Didn't catch the "outright" codicil, but that's still either pretty impressive in terms of UNC and Dook's dominance or else pretty pathetic in terms of everybody else. Of course, I'm sure there is some similar disparity in the SEC as well...
