Oh, well then that's different. They just politicized the NFL before the anthem. That makes it completely different.

Professor Tiger wrote:This situation really won't change until the absence of viewers decreases NFL revenue and profits, and the players' contracts become less lucrative. When the players are forced to buy 100 foot yachts because they can no longer afford 200 foot yachts, they might have a change of mind.
Funny thing is, if that happens, all the faux patriotic yokels who are enraged at the players' current "disrespect" would be smugly satisfied, thinking they somehow brought these rich, uppity players back down to their proper level, and they wouldn't even care (in fact, they'd be happy) that it was purely for financial reasons that they were now standing, which in reality would be even more disrespectful than kneeling or whatever. Basically if they are only standing their b/c they don't want to have any financial losses, the public is perfectly fine with that, and in fact, as we see with Prof's post, they want it that way. How very patriotic, but it's a surprise to no one that the only patriotism many people feel is patriotism to capitalism, not to individual rights (except, of course, 2nd Amendment rights)...

Don't post while high, hedge. Somewhere in that adventure of a post, that started with "disrespect," then jumped to "caring for financial reasons," then veered to "patriotism," then detoured to "capitalism," then ran out of gas with "the 2nd Amendment," was there a cogent thought?

It was more of a Jackson Pollack type post, I'll agree, but the points are still valid, however scattershot the delivery...

I was thinking it was more like James Joyce's "Ulysses" or Faulkner's "Sound and the Fury" - type post. As a student of great literature, I know that sometimes genius makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And because you are a UNC graduate, I held out the possibility that is could be the case with you. But Pollack is okay as an analogy, I guess.
Wow. That is one incredibly stupid person.

The only thing that pisses off an employer more than an employee forgetting who pays their salary, is an employee who forgets who pays their employers' salary.

all these people on twitter are losing their shit thinking this has anything to do with her calling Trump a white sumpremacist.
She just told people to hurt the revenue of companies who support the NFL and who her employer pays millions of dollars to in order to have a viable product that is wanted by its viewers.
We've raised a generation of social justice warriors who are just complete morons. You can't respect people who have no concept of how the world works.

Well, the whole ESPN organization is stupid. Turned on ESPN tonight and NFL pregame show was all about how Jerry Jones disappointed the players. I'm sure I wasn't alone in turning the channel.

ESPN is a rare business that goes out of its way to drive away its own customers. We'll see if the NFL follows ESPN's example for the long haul.

Actually the uniforms aren't that bad... not near as bad as UK's checkerboard sleeve ones. Looks like a pee-wee league uniform. Don't know who came up with those but they need to be fired. The checkerboard stuff is for UT. Go back to the traditional unis. You don't see top programs like Bama, Auburn, LSU, So Cal or OU trying out those Mickey Mouse unis.... and the checkerboard stuff on the basketball unis are equally disgusting.... and don't get me started on that crooked K logo.
