I think the exchange websites are all crashing but I saw where a woman signed up for a family of 4 to get a $5000 deductible and 60% coverage and is paying $598 a month on a bronze plan.

Have you tried the exchange site yet?
Those figures are what I had at my last job not less than a year ago.

That is why I left it.

That is just plain stupid.

5 ER trips at 60% likely gets you to 5000k

so likely that lady will pays 7200 a year plus 5K =12,000 K a year for medical expenses
throw in state local and sociallsecurity and I imagine more then 50% of her salary is going to the govt/medical stuff if family incomne is 100K

Still can't create an account to see if I can get reasonably priced single-payer health insurance from "the marketplace". It says "system unavailable". Imagine that...

Glad there has been no chatter on here about this govt shutdown shit. I guess everyone knows the deal of the idiotic fuckery going on with the crew lined up behind that eunuch Boehner.

I'm sure the revenue collectors are still humming along.

I wonder if Crow is still employed in his "Only 5 people in the world can do my" job?

My kids think schools should be shut down as well.

yea, that is quite annoying isn't it?

other than the W.I.C. thing, I'm not too bothered by it . Hate to hear about kids not getting formula or whatever though.

That should be what all politicians are afraid of - that Americans come to believe they don't need the government

I did read where they don't do audits during any shutdowns, but I can't imagine what else they do except stamp shit...

Taxes are due in 13 days so I'm sure they'll be fully staffed to receive and process the returns. There has to be some sort of prep work in anticipation of the due date and there are probably plenty of people who send their returns in early.

BIL is a inspector of moderate to large businesses. He is furloughed. My sister, his wife is in Homeland security. She is also furloughed. They'll be okay for a couple of weeks, then it'll get really bad for them

I hope he opens a new encryption business and just changes his algorithms on his keys. That would drive the NSA insane

in other news, I'm guessing Harry Reid wishes he would re-word his response to a question this morning

Asked by CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash if the Senate would follow the House's plans to vote for a bill to fund the NIH during the shutdown, Reid blasted the GOP-controlled House and insulted Bash.

"What right do they have to pick and choose which part of government is going to be funded? It's obvious what's going on here. You talk about reckless and irresponsible, wow," he said. (read the full exchange below)

About 200 new patients come to the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland every week. Patients are now being told they will have to wait until the government starts up again to begin their trials, according to NIH spokesman John Burklow.

"In fact, six new studies would have started this week that we are deferring," Burklow said. Approximately 30 of the 200 new patients are children, he said, and about 10 of those children are cancer patients.

Pressed further if Reid would move legislation if it meant helping even one child, the Nevada Democrat grew more irate.

"Why would we want to do that? I have 1,100 people at Nellis Air Force base that are sitting at home. They have a few problems of their own. To have someone of your intelligence to suggest such a thing means you're as irresponsible and reckless," he said to Bash.

------------------------------------------------

Harry Reid says cancer patient children can die as long as Nellis Air Force base people are furloughed......... (I guess gun legislation is worth it to save one child but not the folks furloughed at Nellis Air Force base)

"what gives them (the house of Representatives) the right to pick and choose what parts of government to fund?" ummm...because they are the house of representatives? Isn't that their job, Harry?

Harry, Harry, Harry - just when you thought you had the high road over the GOP.

I also love how they are going with the Obamacare defunding as "its already a law, you have to fund it" but funny how that doesn't work with immigration. If one thing we've learned since the turn of the century, laws can be ignored by our government without consequence.
