I'm glad UT doesn't have any idiot fans.

There was a time when fans behaving badly were confined to the odd letter-to-the-editor rant or the occasional news story ( brick through a window, moving fan called to a coach's house etc). There were filters...and censors. And transgressions by players and coaches got "handled" outside of the public's view.
Seems like a long time ago, but it really wasn't.

"And transgressions by players and coaches got "handled" outside of the public's view."
The old man swung his head back and forth. The way of the transgressor is hard. God made this world, but he didnt make it to suit everbody, did he?
I dont believe he much had me in mind.
Aye, said the old man. But where does a man come by his notions. What world's he seen that he liked better?
I can think of better places and better ways.
Can ye make it be?
No.
No. It's a mystery. A man's at odds to know his mind cause his mind is aught he has to know it with. He can know his heart, but he dont want to. Rightly so. Best not to look in there. It aint the heart of a creature that is bound in the way that God has set for it. You can find meanness in the least of creatures, but when God made man the devil was at his elbow. A creature that can do anything. Make a machine. And a machine to make the machine. And evil that can run itself a thousand years, no need to tend it. You believe that?
I dont know.
Believe that.

Funny thing - I can walk to McCarthy's old apartment from my office. We used to buy liquor from the same package store.

FWIW, I'm hoping for an All-SEC championship game.

The NonConference
Idaho (1-11)
Eastern Michigan (2-10)
Eastern Kentucky (6-6)
@ Florida State (14-0)
Playing the champs is as tough as it gets. Of course, Florida is basically forced against their will to play that game. If they had their way, it would've been replaced by a home game against South Alabama instead. But still...

E for effort.
I actually love the way Billy Donovan's teams play. I'm not sorry to see that the Gators didn't get another NC but it was a great season for sure. Just couldn't find the basket tonight.
I wanted to put some cash on UConn but didn't. Oh well.

They picked the wrong night to lose their shooting touch, and yes UConn's D had something to do with that. Still it was a good year and this was a fun team to watch - I could get into basketball more if more teams played like this one did. Nice job for Ky to come on like they have, but the fact that they are even eligible to win the title after that kind of reg season is a mark against hoops IMO.

I guess it all depends on how you look at it. The playoff model always rewards the team playing best at the end of the season whereas the CFB MNC model rewards the best overall season (most of the time).
The Giants sorta squeaked into the playoffs a few years ago and won the Super Bowl over the previously undefeated Patriots. Who was the better team that year? Undoubtedly the Patriots, but not on the night when it counted most. We'll see more of this if the CFB playoffs move to 16 teams as well...a team that has lost 3 games during the season will end up winning it all.
It's hard to root for Calipari and KY unless you're a KY fan, because he has that reputation of sleaziness and gets all the one-and-dones to come there. I would personally much prefer a UF (or Wichita State, etc.) type of team where the team has gelled over a few years, but that's the model we have now.

I want UK to win. Nobody can ever 2nd guess Cal again if he pulls this one off. I'm all in on UK tonight even if I don't watch it.

If this had been football I'd have been all for tucky to win* -- but as it turned out it's better for a team that beat UF twice win it instead of a team that UF beat three times.
Speaking of beating a team 3 times - how about Gator baseball against the top-ranked team in the country?
(*then again if tucky was playing for a football NC then the LSD must be really strong this week)

I'm surprised that DSL's schedule obsession grading did not take into account that 2014 is another 15-week regular season so teams have the room on the calendar to schedule a non-tomato can game that doesn't go back to back with a tough conference game. I'd give UF's a C at best. 2 directionals and Idaho are 3 home games you won't see me anywhere near - though after last year none can be taken for granted.

We won't be #1 after GT spanked dat ass last weekend.
This is probably the best chance we've had to win the CWS in a pretty long time, but our offense has a tendency to go to sleep for an entire game at times. All in all the offense is pretty good and we have three solid starters and a very good bullpen. Defense is the biggest concern, it's like watching my son's high school team at times (though he has played a nearly flawless center field all season, thank you very much).

UVa is the new #1 - Rickart finally has something to cheer for instead of against.
UF has climbed to #18 and has a 1 game lead in the SEC East.

Football School? Yeah, once upon a time back in the day.
Hoops School? Well, sort of.
Gymnastics School - Hell yeah baby. That's what UF is these days! Back-to-back NCs!
