One of my dad's best friends was a fireman and a top amateur golfer. He pulled a 400+lb man out of burning hotel lobby and got a ruptured disk in the process...and never swung a club the rest of his days. That was in '77...he walked stooped-over and suffered mightily until his death two summers ago.
