Re: College Football
Before Steve Young became a member of the San Francisco 49ers, before he won three Super Bowls and before he established himself as one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all-time with a Hall of Fame career, he played in the USFL.
You're probably either thinking A) What is the USFL? or B) How in the world did the USFL entice Young, who was one of the most coveted players in America coming out of BYU, to join its side instead of the NFL?
The answer to that first question: It was the United States Football League—a professional football league that looked to challenge the NFL's dominance in the 1980s.
The answer to the second: They offered him something the NFL couldn't—a $36 million deal spread out over a ludicrous 43 years, per Sports Illustrated.
Yes, you read that correctly: 43 years, meaning Young, who took his last USFL snap in 1985 and last NFL snap in 1999, won't stop getting paid as a professional quarterback until the year 2027 when he is 65 years old.
The USFL collapsed in 1986, but according to Celebrity Net Worth's Brian Warner, Young made sure the contract was insured back when he made the deal with billionaire J. William Oldenburg of the Los Angeles Express.
That meant that even though the league went bankrupt, Young was covered.
Moreover, the contract was backloaded. Therefore Young, who currently works as an NFL analyst, is about to get a significant raise.
Per Warner, the 52-year-old will make a hefty $1 million in 2014, and the contract will only continue to escalate until he makes over $3 million annually in the contract's final years.
Not bad for a second—or I guess it's still technically his first—income.

Another huge reason he went to the USFL was because he was a lock to be drafted by the Bengals.

Mike Evans is incredible.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

They're doing their best not to let the camera linger on the stands down in Miami. Damn, that crowd makes the crowd at Kenan look like Michigan. Pitiful...

Wake just scored, when they cut to the crowd, they could only show a couple of rows (and about 6 or 7 bodies across) b/c if they had gone any wider than that it would've been empty seats...

Yeah, your team is in the top 10 and the fans fill less than half the stadium, pathetic fan base. You can bet the organizers of the ACC championship game in Charlotte are on their knees begging for Va Tech to win that division.

Re: College Football
Half full? I'd say much closer to 25%, and maybe even on the south side of that. The upper deck couldn't have been more than 10% full, and this was a game that came down to the final seconds, so it wasn't like a bunch of people left during a blowout...

Re: College Football
On the opposite end of the spectrum, they just came back from commercial break and showed an aerial view of the Bama crowd. They said 101,000 and it looks it. I doubt you could squeeze 100 more people in there. Granted, to some (many?) Bama fans, UT is their most hated rival (I defer to AA on that, but I'm going by what a buddy of mine who lives in B'ham told me, and he definitely said he hates UT more than Auburn), but still, the difference in live crowd support is glaring...

Well, nobody said NCState had much going on this year, but 35-0 and still in the first quarter? Is State that bad or is FSU that good?

Alabama should erect a shed outside their stadium facing away from the stadium, b/c this is an old-timey behind-the-shed Alabammy ass-whuppin...

Both.
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

He needs a better TD dance if he plans to score this often on a regular basis.

Re: College Football
I'm not sure the Jets are much of a challenge but it looks like a light bulb has gone off with Dalton given he has about 7 solid weapons on offense.

The Jets were a top 4 defense going into today. Dalton is finally figuring it out. His last 4 games have been outstanding.

You've never been to a UNC football game? Figures...
Not a UNC football fan, just a hoop junkie, but my sister boy friend is starting Rt for BC, so I am making the trip down because I really like the town.
He was OG for the last two seasons (probably best guard they had) and moved to RT when the two tackles graduated. He is redshirt senior and one of the co-captains. He is also now a 4 year letter winner. He didn''t start as a redshirt frosh but he did get significant playing time in 2010.
The two tackles (White and Patchan) are the only Seniors on the OL. I'm guessing that Addazio will just do next year what he did last year, and move two interior OL to the tackle spots and stick a couple juniors or sophomores on the inside again next year.
Yup that is him he started a few games in 2010 a few of the away games, he is a great kid and a pretty good football player. I would love to see him get a shot. Emmett Cleary is on the Bucs practice Squad and Ian as always graded out higher than him
