Re: Florida State Seminoles
"oil exporters" probably means they lumped all the OPEC countries together.
Brazil exports many agricultural products to the US, mostly tropical type stuff (coffee, citrus, sugar). Ethanol for our lovely fuel initiatives is also probably a factor.

Don't get me wrong, I am personally benefit immensely from a strong upward movement in the markets; however, when the market increases on the news of bad employment numbers because it insures increased fed pumping for the near future....something just ain't right about this.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Speaking of blatant lies: Why you can't trust what's on Hannity. Either he was lazy and didn't check his guests or he intentionally put them on to mislead. What's irritating is that if he really searched he could have found at least one person that the ACA will increase premiums. Instead, of the 3 couples, one was blatantly lying, and the other two would have a better deal under the ACA.
I fact-checked Sean Hannity on Obamacare
http://www.salon.com/2013/10/18/inside_ ... obamacare/
I happened to turn on the Hannity show on Fox News last Friday evening. “Average Americans are feeling the pain of Obamacare and the healthcare overhaul train wreck,” Hannity announced, “and six of them are here tonight to tell us their stories.” Three married couples were neatly arranged in his studio, the wives seated and the men standing behind them, like game show contestants.
As Hannity called on each of them, the guests recounted their “Obamacare” horror stories: canceled policies, premium hikes, restrictions on the freedom to see a doctor of their choice, financial burdens upon their small businesses and so on.
“These are the stories that the media refuses to cover,” Hannity interjected.
But none of it smelled right to me. Nothing these folks were saying jibed with the basic facts of the Affordable Care Act as I understand them. I understand them fairly well; I have worked as a senior adviser to a governor and helped him deal with the new federal rules.
I decided to hit the pavement. I tracked down Hannity’s guests, one by one, and did my own telephone interviews with them.

How does one shop for plans on Healthcare.gov for folks without them registered? And how does one register them without their personal information?

call the 1-800 number or go to Kaiser Family Foundation (link conveniently provided the article) which has done much of the homework for various states or they live in one of the states where the exchange is working.

Good idea. I just went to Kaiser website and ran the criteria on the last two couples. I challenge you to do the same. A lot higher than what the author is claiming.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I did. There is only one Allison Denijs who lives in Westerville Ohio. So I looked up the zip code and used that. Didn't have household income so I gave them a household income of $80,000. Remember, one of her two children has a preexisting condition which currently if added would increase her current 13,000 per year coverage to over 20,000 per year. But under the Kaiser website, below is what you get.
Household income in 2014: 340% of poverty level
Maximum % of income you have to pay for the non-tobacco premium, if eligible for a subsidy: 9.5%
Health Insurance premium in 2014 (for a silver plan, before tax credit): $11,145 per year
You could receive a government tax credit subsidy of up to: $3,545 per year (which covers 32% of the overall premium)
Amount you pay for the premium: $7,600 per year (which equals 9.5% of your household income and covers 68% of the overall premium)

Re: Florida State Seminoles
you sure you did the homework and got a higher number?? That's the Silver plan, not even the bronze or gold plan. Even if you gave them an income of 200,000 dollars, they would only have 11,000 dollars in premiums and still have all 4 covered, less than the estimated 20,000 dollars now.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
In his article, he said he calculated as if there is no subsidy. I can't get to 7,600. Just the 11,000+. Same with the old couple

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Then that would make it 11,145 which is much less than they would have now to cover the 4 of them

9 years ago I sunk $8500 in a company called Google at $85 a share. I still have those shares. The ex didn't want them. She thought they were worthless. HA! Today a share is worth $1,007. Stupid bitch.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Actually, what he said was "Assuming they don’t smoke and have a household income too high to be eligible for subsidies, I found that they would be able to get a plan for around $7,600", meaning he is factoring in subsidies.
As for the Robison's, he is self employed as a youth minister. She apparently is a housewife. Presuming that they make a household income of 50,000 a year (probably generous), their premiums would be $4,750 per year. Even in the unlikely even they make 62,500 per year (just over 400% above poverty line), they would only pay $8,081 per year, less than the $9,600 per year they are paying now.
As for the third couple, his allegation was that the ACA was preventing him from hiring full-time employment. That he was forced to put people on part-time to comply with the ACA. This was a blatant lie. Turns out he only has 4 employees. His only obligation is to notify his employees about the exchanges. He otherwise is not covered by the ACA and doesn't need to provide insurance to his employees.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I am having trouble reconciling "income too high for subsidies" with "factoring in subsidies". It's contradictory. The point is it is not a deal unless you have subsidies. Fact is, you will probably pay more if you dont qualify for subsidies. Which leads to the point that there are winners and losers with Obamacare, there has to be for it to be financially self sufficient. To claim that everyone will win under Obamacare and that it will not raise the deficit is the biggest lie out there.Owlman wrote:Actually, what he said was "Assuming they don’t smoke and have a household income too high to be eligible for subsidies, I found that they would be able to get a plan for around $7,600", meaning he is factoring in subsidies.
