in 2006 there would have been a bunch of people that said a first term african american senator named Obama wouldn't be president either.

Don't ever underestimate how bad the current president can fuck things up to pave the way for an extremist to get elected after him.

well the feds say the average is 328/month

http://news.yahoo.com/obamacares-averag ... 09815.html

then they use a 27 7yo that will pay 169/mo

right now bluue cross is about 3K plus a year for my 49 yo wife--thats 220 a month-- Im still using military VA medical but i imagine I would be well over 400 a month at age 52

I cant imagine obama care being cheaper for her or anybody who works full time but if you dont I imagine it will be pretty cheap

majority of the working class will pay less or no change. Some will pay more, many more will get insurance for the first time or qualify for coverage through medicare.

Found these articles from the same website (both are probably accurate):

$11 a month? Obamacare super-cheap for some, feds find
http://www.nbcnews.com/health/11-month- ... 8C11250211

Some say Obamacare's 'affordable' coverage isn't affordable for them

at this point I can't believe the majority will see no change or less - unless they are all forced to go to these exchanges and give up their coverage

It is simple. if you are at 133% of the poverty level or less, things will be better for you under Obamacare. If you are above that, things will be worse for you under Obamacare. The Obama knob gobblers on here and in some media circles can try as they might to convince us otherwise, but it is what it is.

No, the majority over that 133% will see no change. A significant amount work for state, city and federal govt or large corporations that have mass plans. Most of them will see no change other than the normal rise in premiums (which has been between 4% or as high as 18% annual in the past 10 years depending on where you live).

I don't agree that the majority over the 133 will see no increase. I believe that's too optimistic.

We will know more when the numbers are fully released (not just anecdotal examples), but you don't cover more people, greatly bolster preventative, and give tax credits and subsities to a huge chunk of America without the majority of those at 133% or better of the poverty libe paying more.

another major issue here - I'm at the mercy of my company to determine how much , if any they will subsidize me if I am forced to go to the exchange.

Right now I have a $12K credit in funny money to cover the cafeteria style plan of health, dental, vision, life insurance, etc

I wonder how many companies are going to push people over to the exchange and just drop health care altogether?

What will happen then is most Americans in that situation are going to go with the "silver" plan or whatever it is, with a high deductible and limited HMO capabilities - meaning they take a pay cut (by losing funded healthcare ) AND settle for crap ass 80/20 insurance with deductible.

Yea I know - there are a ton of people out there that would be thankful to have that insurance if they can afford it, but the mentality at Washington is I should be thankful too

Fuck them and their federally subsidized health care plan.

Even if your company keeps the cafeteria plan, your tax deferral will be capped at 2,500.

If companies can cut costs by getting rid of there health care plans along with along a small percentage of employees who will no longer be needed, you are a damn fool if you think they won't.

Unless you are a Cisco Network Engineer, Rocket Scientist, Doctor, or Lawyer, then companies don't give a shit about trying to attract with you with a benefits plan. They can find salesman, HR reps, managers, and such with any other incentives needed.

Oh and the companies that do decided to keep insurance for their employees, the employees will get fucked in the ass as the rates go up.

Rates will go up. That is a fact. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a moron.

The examples you've given have been of individuals who will pay more. That's not about what will happen to the majority. Look at more independent evaluators (yes, I include the CBO) and Kaiser Family Foundation.

" many more will get insurance for the first time"

Those people will definitely be paying more...
