I consider myself libertarian and I am totally against the police hassling anyone for any non-reason, and I certainly don't count simply standing around at 2 am (or anytime) as a reason to be hassled by the cops or even questioned. I am on record as saying that I don't even think if they witness a drug deal going down that that is a reason for them to get involved at all, but of course that's not the laws we live under. But given that last sentiment, you can imagine how I feel about stop and frisk. At the same time, I agree with eCat that most cops are by nature power mad assholes, so you shouldn't expect anything but the worst out of most of them...

One of the things I liked most about SF is that the cops didn't really hassle anybody too much. Even at the known drug intersection, with a station within 2 blocks, I never saw anybody being hassled, much less arrested. I think they just don't give a shit about drug use at that level in SF...
