Here's the rest of that story: the vast majority of those jobs you are touting are part time jobs.bluetick wrote:162k Jobs Added in July; Jobless Rate Falls to 7.4% (AP)

That is nothing to get excited about. If this was a Republican administration, the media would rightly deride it as a "burger-flipping job recovery."Toemeesleather wrote:.

And few of those jobs are going to young people:

If this were happening under a Republican administration, the media would be calling it the Ku Klux Klan jobs market. We keep hearing the job market is "improving" or even "solid," with 162,000 new positions created in July and unemployment falling to 7.4%, the lowest since 2008.
But one group is sitting it out. And it's the one that most enthusiastically embraced Barack Obama in both of his presidential elections: America's young.
Their unemployment rate is a shocking 16.1%. Increasingly, those ages 18 to 29, the so-called millennials, are being left out of the market, with tenuous or no ties to the workplace. Just 43.6% of this group have full-time jobs, according to Gallup.
Over at Power Line blog, Joe Malchow crunched some not-very-pretty numbers on youth labor-force participation. Participation among 18-to-19-year-olds has declined 11.3% since Obama took office. For those ages 20 to 24, it has dropped 3.4%.
These are the biggest declines for any age cohort. And if they aren't bad enough, teen unemployment among blacks is an unbelievable 41%.

Black teen unemployment was 35.2% when oprama took office. Black teen employment numbers are traditionally the worst of any demographic, going back to Roosevelt (the first one). There has never been a Black Panther jobs market, to borrow your phrase.
If that trend were magically reversed under this particular president...well, that would not over well in certain quarters, would it?

Black teen unemployment has been the worst of any demographic going back to the 1865 Amendment to the Constitution. The only way this could be changed is with magic (as you said) and no President is a magician.bluetick wrote:Black teen unemployment was 35.2% when oprama took office. Wanting black teens "employed" is admirable. Its good for the teens and the country. The more they fill their time with labour, the LESS time they will have for idle. And idle hands are the Devil's play things.
Problem is, I'm not convinced we have a whole lot of black teens that are doing all that they can to look for work. Two days after I turned 16, I was interviewing for part-time jobs. One week after that I punched a clock for the very first time in a submarine sandwich shop, a full minimum wage was paid to me, yippie. But I never stopped interviewing. I quit that job in 3 weeks when another submarine sandwich shop offered 25 cents more an hour for the same work. I did that job for a month until I got a job in a movie theater than paid me a $1 an hour more. That is the way it goes (or at least, that is how it "went.") I don't know what teens do anymore other than expect their parents to give them $50/week in allowance to do (what?) I don't know....

Probably true, but as we all know even 5.5% total unemployment is unacceptable in a Repub admin....sooo bottom line, the Great One is just another Prez (like a repub) keeping the black man down.....

I think Obama should hold a press conference on his last day in office and say, "Birth certificate? Totally forged. I'm Kenyan." Then finish with, "As-salam Alaykum." Then drop the mic and walk off.

Don't need a birth certificate(authentic or fake) to see that, simply open yer eyes and ears.

Oh, you meant a fraud as a baseball pitcher. Well, since he never claimed to be a baseball pitcher, that wouldn't be fraudulent.

Me, not at all. My eyes are wide open. I not comfortable with people making claims such as yours based on how someone looks.
