Hummmm.........................gotta just be coincidence. ;)

Loughner's diverse book preferences included Mein Kampf, Animal House, and Farenheit 451; liberals point to Loughner's citation of Ayn Rand's We, The Living as proof positive that he was a right-wing whacko, whereas conservatives counter with The Communist Manifesto as indicative of him being a left-wing maniac. Other books that made his profile list include Peter Pan, The Phantom Tollbooth, and Alice in Wonderland, Plato's Republic and Meno, Brave New World, and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

Records indicate Loughner was a registered independent who voted in 2006 and 2008 but not 2010. Loughner had a particular dislike for Giffords and expressed the opinion that women should not hold positions of power. On a constituent form letter he received from Giffords in 2007 the he wrote the words "Die Bitch" and "Assassination Plans Have Been Made."

LMBOMA, yeah cause overpopulation and book burning are HUGE conservative issues (451) and conservatives are all for gun registration, confiscation and huge gubment control of everything (hitler)

He was a left wing nut, notice I said NUT.

Of course it only matters if they can somehow be connected to conservatism, otherwise their political leanings don't matter and they are just a nut.

It's my opinion that they are all just nuts, but the libs are the ones that continue to try and connect everyone with conservatives. Heck they even tried that with the policeman that went nuts and killed those people, that is until they found out he was a big Oprama supporter then his thoughts didn't matter only the crime (which is as it should be).

Nuts are nuts are nuts no matter what but to the left all nuts are conservative until proven otherwise, and then if it is proven otherwise and only then they decide suddenly that doesn't matter and the investigation into the things and people they support stops.

Just look at this situation, he just HAD to be a conservative and it just HAD to be tea party related because it was tax day.......whoops.

But I do agree with one thing you said, Oprama should be ASHAMED of the way he exploited the victims during this gun deal knowing that none of the proposals would have changed a single thing that happened, and knowing that his own state and city have the worst enforcement record for gun crimes as well.
The Giffords shooter belongs to the left just as much as McVeigh belongs to the right.

Naturally you ignored the Ayn Rand book reference. Which is probably not such a big deal anyway. because he probably never read any of the books he listed. Psychopaths apparently lie about such things.

By all means carry on with your lamebrain theory about one left-wing nut job trying to assassinate another left-winger. It's so...you.

Maybe BO is confusing conservatives with libertarians. Conservatives generally stand and applaud when the govt attempts to control society's morality

Libertarians support abortion rights; conservatives don't. Libertarians support drug legalization; conservatives don't. Libertarians support assisted suicide; conservatives don't. Libertarians support evolution being taught in schools and keeping out organized prayer; conservatives want the biblical story of Creation taught and support organized school prayer. Libertarians more or less support open borders (so long as the welfare system is dismantled); conservatives are completely against it and worry about how non-whites are changing Amurrica. Libertarians opposed the Patriot Act and resist encroaching powers to spy on the citizens; conservatives adore police powers and will always oblige the govt so long as it claims that it's needed to fight TERROR (well, at least they did until Obama took office).

In all those cases and many more, conservatives fall on the side using the power of govt to enforce a very specific and very limited view of morality and what society should look like.

I don't think he ignored the reference so much as he doesn't know who Ayn Rand is. He thinks he maybe remembers Hannity mentioning a book of hers once but not sure. Time to check the podcasts

Here's a good example of what you're saying:
A Justice Department official said Friday the government is invoking a seldom-used public safety exception permitting officials to engage in a limited and focused unwarned interrogation of a suspect - in this case Dzhokhar Tsarnaev - without first reading him his typically assured Miranda rights. That official, as well as a second, both of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity, says Tsarnaev will be questioned by a special interrogation team for high-value suspects.

The public safety exception not only permits the unwarned questioning of a suspect, but also allows the government to introduce any statement yielded by such interrogation as evidence in court. The exception is triggered when authorities have an objectively reasonable need to protect themselves or the public from a clear and present danger.

However, the exception lasts only 48 hours and should be extended by declaring Tsarnaev a potential enemy combatant, under the Law of War, Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina; John McCain, Arizona; and Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire, said in a statement Saturday. They were joined by New York Republican Rep. Peter King.
I dislike that little murdering twerp they just captured, but he is a US citizen. Even if he is a POS, he's got Constitutional rights, including right to Miranda, access to attorney, etc. That "public safety exception" is deeply troubling. And if the federal government now has the right to declare him an enemy combatant, and ship him off to a secret camp forever, that is appalling.

Shame on the "conservative" Bush administration for coming up with something as unconstitutional as that. And shame on the Obama administration for invoking it. Four years ago they were hyperventilating when Bush just wanted to listen to phone calls between US citizens and terrorists overseas.

If there is any scrutiny for a fishing license then there is too much. The only reason there is a fishing license is for the government to receive a fee.

It doesn't take a background check to own a car. Compare the driver's license to a carry permit.

You should have to pass a criminal background check in order to vote or collect welfare.

But not to buy a gun.

Such is the logic of second amendment fanatics.

2A supporters appear fanatical because they are opposing an equally fanatical equal and opposite instinct among most liberals to negate the 2A. There is no deep seated philosophical passion to abolish fishing or driving cars the way there is among liberals to nullify the right for private citizens to keep and bear arms. Or more specifically, to do to the 2A what they already did to the 10A.

The police chief, Edward Deveau, describes how cops nearly apprehended the older suspect, and were placing handcuffs on him in the middle of the street Thursday night, when the younger suspect came at officers in a carjacked SUV. The cops were able "to dive out of the way," and the younger suspect then continued to drive directly over his brother and dragging him through the street. That's how the older suspect died, according to the police chief.

Funny thing - I know buckoos of liberals with all sorts of proclivities, fetishes, and strange desires, but I've never run up on the first one who wants to eliminate the Second Amendment to our Constitution. Granted I've lived my entire life in East TN, but there are people here from "all over", and I've traveled enough to somewhat claim I've been "all over", yet I've never run across anyone who says I shouldn't have the right to own a gun. Help me out here. Is there a notable person on the tv who is anti-2A, or someone on the google or the intraweb highway? I mean, if you were to say say pro-gun, I could close my eyes and conjure up images of about 10k people. But if you were to say no-gun..I swear I would draw a blank.

Honest to God, prof, I don't know what you're talking about when you say something like "2A supporters are fanatical in order to counter those hordes who want to do away with 2A." Help me out here...do you personally know someone who says you, Professor Tiger, should not have the right to own a firearm? Who are they...what are they like; what do they do for a living?

These brothers sort of remind me of the Bush clan. Wasted attempts at war.

Look I told you it doesn't matter to me, a nut is a nut.

BUT according to his friends, his writings, and the books he liked he was a left wing nutjob. I can't help it if you libs don't like it, it is what it is and just proves there are looney left wingers just like there are looney right wingers. Of course the media can't have that out there so that is supressed, kind of like they are intentionally not covering the baby killer trial because they don't want the bad pub about abortion.

As for you asking PT to name someone that doesn't believe he has a right to own a gun, it wouldn't matter because in true Tick form you would just claim he was lying anyway without having one clue who he does or doesn't know.

I believe prof may know a genuine gun-grabber or two, or at least somebody else here does.

There's only two persons here I'm confident have invented characters to gin up their side of a debate. And since IB has taken his leave..
