And I still think whomever is responsible should serve time. In jail.

FTM, I'm still pissed that Linda Tripp didn't serve time for recording her meetings with Lewinski.

So yeah, three golf days at Reynolds Plantation; from there chauferred to Augusta National yesterday and today. Our own man-servant, 5lb maine lobsters, giant prawns, enormous racks of lamb. Pre-embargo Cubans and the finest french wines..

Life wasn't this good under dubya.

Hate to rain on your parade...

* Woodside Plantation > Reynolds

* Prawns? Unless you're Gordon Ramsey, you call them shrimp.

* Enormous lambs are older than a year old and are called mutton.

* Most of the pre-embargo Cubans are either re-banded Nicaraguans or complete crap or both.

Also, AA doesn't know his large shrimp market names. Not surprising considering the shrimp he tries to manskape every 3 years.

Hopefully you'll all understand why I can't be here anymore. Perhaps I'll have an underling pop in from time to time and give a progress report.

Not a clue.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

You actually had a 2008 5Vegas or a 2010 NicaLibre, most likely.

People have been duping the unwitting with the "It's a pre-embargo Cuban!" stuff for over 40 years. The fact is, that 98% of the legal, pre-embargo stuff was gone by January of 1964 because people started gong crazy, and Cuban supply had not been ramped up because the Pinar Del Rio Valley is very small and production could only be ramped up a minuscule amount even if they had years to prepare. As you may remember, JFK famously ordered 1200 H.Upmanns as the ban went into effect. The supply was wrecked in months.

So, questionaable cigar middlemen began the re-banding in 1964 and has been growing strong since.

But people new to cigars, every year, proudly proclaim how they scored a "pre-embargo" and how "lucky" they were to get it even though it cost them a fortune. Heh. Dupes.

Anyway, don't listen to me, I'm sure that "Cuban" cigar really helped mask the taste of the mutton chops and shrimp dish you had dined on adfter playing golf on the rock beds and parking lot greens at the "plantation".

Could I have increased my score if I had said something like, "Obviously, a rube like you wouldn't know a premium Cuban cigar from a Swisher Sweet, you poor, dumb Hilljack."?

The "Who lives better?" contest between Tick and AA is indeed entertaining. I award Tick extra points for the red 3 piece polyester suit comment. But AA brings a more convincing array of in-depth knowledge.

Tick, I thought you were a liberal. It is unseemly for a liberal to brag about enjoying fine cigars and Masters tickets. Sure, liberals indulge in prosperity every bit as much as conservatives, but liberals normally keep quiet about it. Go buy a few carbon credits and you will be absolved.

I hope AA gets the opportunity to smoke a vintage cigar one day. There are the several obvious visual cues that a 60 yr old stogie engenders, but it's the taste that let's you know it's the real McCoy. And that's not really something you can experience pouring over back issues of Cigar Afficiando.

Heh.

The oldest cigar I've had was a 75-year-old Partagas. It was okay. To the topic at-hand: many of the premium Nicaraguans, two of the premium Hondurans, and a handful of the premium Dominicans are at least as good as the best of the premium Cubans. Heck, a Padron 1964 Anniversary is about as good as anything from the Pinar Valley.

Now, back to your "pre-embargo" (ersatz) Cuban: did you take a pic of it? Because if you did, I can probably tell you what its actual country of origin is, and narrow the manufacturer down to a couple of possibilities. For example, the plastic tip on the end of the cigar would cue me in on whether it was a "Black 'n Mild" or a " White Owl". Also, if it still had the sticker on the cellophane that showed what drug store it was bought at (CVS sells some things that Walgreen's doesn't, for example).

Tick, every time you light up a cigar (of whatever origin), you spew filthy smoke and harmful chemicals into the atmosphere, destroying the ozone layer and contributing to climate change.

How can you live with yourself?
