Welcome to the new and improved America. Somebody bugs the office of the Senate Minority Leader, and we're supposed to be upset that the Senator is actually daring to talk about confronting a new political rival with his staff in his own office.

The US is getting scary weird.

I don't know about the 47% or the 53% or the 1% or the 99% or whatever.

I do know that a sitting US Senator was secretly taped in a private meeting and those tapes were released or sold to a group of people opposed to the senator's ideology.

It's a serious breach. Shrugging it off sets a dangerous precedence, IMO.

I don't mind it. Just shows how slimy politics is on both sides.

Good example of just how serious they are in DC re: cutting cost/deficits.

The beleaguered U.S. Postal Service backed down from its cost-saving plan to eliminate Saturday mail delivery, acknowledging that Congress barred a move that supporters said was essential to addressing the agency's dire financial condition.

Despite the retreat, the governing board said Wednesday that it's not possible for the Postal Service to meet its goals for reduced spending without altering the delivery schedule. Delaying "responsible changes," the board said, only makes it more likely that the Postal Service "may become a burden" to taxpayers.

MAY become a burden???? LMAO.

McConnell cracks me up. Yeah, a guy/girl who taped you on a cell phone compares to Watergate bugging. Where was the Watergate uproar when Mitt got nailed with his "47%" election killing taping in a " private" meeting? Mitch is upset because the taping showed how big of an asshole he is and also exposed him to ethics charges & possible federal violations by admitting on tape to using legislative aids to dig up dirt on whatever "Whack-a-Mole" they thought might peek out their head & challenge his golden empire. He's not pissed so much about being "bugged" as he is what that "bug" exposed him as.

The 99 are real. The 1 are what Mitch represents. Ego driven ass wipes who lie out of their noses to their own people yet behind closed doors couldn't really give a shit about them. Just keep me in office so I can live the 1 life. He needs to go as do many many more.

I couldn't care less what the bugging exposes him as. That is irrelevant to me. And I'm not a republican and I don't care for the politics of the senator in question. Again, that's irrelevant.

A sitting US senator was illegally taped and that information was given to or sold to a third party. The only possible way people could be okay with this is if they let partisan politics cloud their view.

Re: Mitt being taped. He was a private citizen running for office who was making a speech to 50 people at a private fundraiser and was taped. While not proper, it's an entirely different thing than the recent taping of the senator in a closed-door meeting.

Not really. Not in 2013 anyway. To compare this to Watergate is laughable. Typical Mitch.

If one of the parties in Mitch's brainstorming session was the one who secretly recorded it, then no crime was committed. Kentucky's recording law only requires the consent of one party.

Newly declassified materials make apparent that Margaret Thatcher (fearing the economic might of a reunified Germany) tried to convince Gorbachev to keep East Germany under their direct control and part of the Warsaw Pact.

And let's suppose McConnell's staffers are correct and that someone on "the left" bugged his office.

Why would you draw attention to it and blow your cover in order to release stuff about McConell's boys attacking a potential candidate who has already dropped out of the race? I'm guessing that six months of having Mitch's office bugged would reveal juicier nuggets than that.

Ducking for cover? Over a rather tame and very common oppo strategy meeting? Lmao...
