I don't think its a good idea to go back to November 2008/January 2009 economic conditions just for the gas prices...
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

I don't dispute that doctors are human beings and make mistakes as such. I'm just saying that they do one of the most honorable professions on earth - healing people. I don't understand all the hostility against them.
If you've got chest pains or discover a lump somewhere on your body or have a bad car wreck, you are not going to call a lawyer or accountant to save your life.

Correct. Besides, gas prices were higher under W than they have been under Obama.aTm wrote:I don't think its a good idea to go back to November 2008/January 2009 economic conditions just for the gas prices...

Wha? Prices went up, and there was a huge spike when Ike shut down a bunch of gulf refineries, but that's not even close to accurate..Correct. Besides, gas prices were higher under W than they have been under Obama.

That's like asking why plumbers get paid for working on faulty plumbing. Why are they callously profiting on the misery of broken pipes? And why do we pay auto mechanics for selfishly fixing broken cars?

You're right, plumbers and mechanics belong on that list of highest paid professionals who make their living off the misery of others. at least more than $9.50 hr.

Your link doesn't work.Wha? Prices went up, and there was a huge spike when Ike shut down a bunch of gulf refineries, but that's not even close to accurate..
Here's a meaningful chart: http://www.mercurynews.com/presidentele ... a-and-bush
And I would like to see any evidence that the Great Gas Rape of the summer/fall of 2008 (under W) was caused by gulf refineries being shut down. As I remember, the W crowd blamed it on an increase in demand from millions of Chinese going out and buying SUV's.

I would think a dictator saying he is testin nuclear devices for use against the US would warrant some type of response other then no food for you

Federal billions cannot overcome the fact that electric vehicles and plug-in electric hybrids meet few, if any, of real consumers’ needs. Compared with gas-powered cars, they deliver inferior performance at much higher cost. As an American Physical Society symposium on battery research concluded last June: “Despite their many potential advantages, all-electric vehicles will not replace the standard American family car in the foreseeable future.”

Starving N. Korea has worked in that the people are starving to death, but the Kims are crazy and don't give a crap.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

tick, bluetick wrote:Your dumbassery knows no bounds. The only thing holding back interstate insurance sales are the insurance companies themselves. Georgia legislated open (interstate) health insurance sales two years ago and no out of state carriers came calling to sell georgians any coverage. Apparently it's not cost effective for an out of state insurer to come to GA and undertake the time and expense to negotiate (re: fix) prices with hospitals and Dr.'s groups. They're better off fixing prices in their own state with the help of their own state's legislature (dem or GOP - makes no difference). Arizona and Maine have also allowed interstate sales, with no appreciable results.innocentbystander wrote:
Democrats hate this and would never allow this to happen. Ever. Democrats have reframed (I love this word!!) this competition between the states as "racing to the bottom." That is exactly what is supposed to happen in a pure free-market system (you race to the bottom on price for goods and services), but it fucks everything up in a government run system (like the Affordable Care Act) because it allows young people to compete on price. That is real bad. The government can't have that because old people will have to pay more because they will be alone in their risk pools, simple math forces insurance companies covering the elderly to raise the price just for them. Thus, you end the AFA.
Think about it, goof. Why do the major insurance companies lobby against interstate sales in nearly all the states? Because they are happy with the status quo of a system that is 60 years in the making and decidedly in their favor. Here, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee has their own insurance policy against rogue companies swooping in from the Northeast or west...it's called kickbacks to local GOP lawmakers.
you have no idea what you are talking about. the only thing yo uhave done is show another perfect example of reframing an issue to suit your agenda

IB, insurance is my life and livlihood going on 27 years, so I make it my business to know what I'm talking about. You made an incorrect assertion about interstate health insurance commerce and I was happy to set you straight.
I know you are relatively new to the counseling game (marriage and otherwise), but I would not presume to tell you your business in that area. In fact, feel free to tell us about any recent successes you've had and any interesting methods and solutions you can point to.

Three years after the White House arranged a hero's welcome at the State of the Union address for the Fort Hood police sergeant and her partner who stopped the deadly shooting there, Kimberly Munley says President Obama broke the promise he made to her that the victims would be well taken care of.
"Betrayed is a good word," former Sgt. Munley told ABC News in a tearful interview to be broadcast tonight on "World News with Diane Sawyer" and "Nightline."
"Not to the least little bit have the victims been taken care of," she said. "In fact they've been neglected."
There was no immediate comment from the White House about Munley's allegations.
