no, it was actually Anti-K chiming in that he thought it was time.

Listen, every coach is a genius when he has the most talent - Williams, Calapari, and now Crean.

but Crean couldn't do shit for 4 years until he landed a Zeller and he was pretty marginal without Dwayne Wade, Roy went NIT after a national championship, and Calapari is trying to figure out how to teach kids how to play organized basketball after convincing everyone that all you had to do was recruit a bunch of one and dones to win a championship.

Roy's problem is he is getting his ass kicked in recruiting right now - nothing more, and if we've learned anything from Tubby Smith, coaching your ass off to have a sweet 16 level team with only so-so talent will make you age quickly.

e cat your 100 % right ROy is all about having better talent not being a better coach, Hubert playing and Roy not going small just supports that. He could play 9 guys all very athletic and play a full 1-3-1 or 41 run and jump for 40 minutes if he used 9 guys and only player Hubert and james just when needed.

"Roy's problem is he is getting his ass kicked in recruiting right now"

If by "right now" you mean the past 2 years, yeah, sure. But all it takes is one guy to turn things around. As for Roy seeming to have "lost it", I suspect that if Marshall hadn't gotten hurt last year we would have at minimum been playing a rematch with UK for the title. Even if we had lost, which granted would've stung, I think alot of this talk of Roy having lost it would be mitigated tremendously. Marshall, Barnes and Henson were good college players, Roy did OK by landing those guys. And look at a guy like Danny Green, very important component of a great 4 year run and now starting on one of the top teams in the NBA. I know that kind of thing doesn't have the glamor of Cal sending lottery picks year after year, but I suspect that, say, Gilcrest would trade his (admittedly short at this point) NBA career with Danny Green's.

Now then, if Roy doesn't land another Lawson/Branden Wright/Zeller/Henson/Barnes type of player in the next few years, I'll start to worry. But he just got a pg in the 2014 class that many are comparing to Jason Williams, and, although I don't particularly like the Dookie comparison, Jason Williams was the best combo guard I've ever seen in college. If this kid (Joel Berry) is even close to J. Williams, I think we'll be OK. And frankly I don't think we're out of the running for the Wiggins kid. If we land him (admittedly a long shot), we're right back in the mix. Hell, this year's UK freshmen class shows how dicey it is to go all in on freshmen, but I don't see UK fans panicking just yet....

No surprise that 4 Dookies made the Top 10 Most Hated Players List.

I had 11 Dookies on my top 10 list. They were all tied for #1...

you gotta be kidding me

The fine people over at DraftExpress.com have updated their Top 100 rankings, 2013 Mock Draft and 2014 Mock Drafts this afternoon, and predictably, the Cats are all over it, particularly Nerlens Noel, whom they name the #1 prospect and the #1 pick in the 2013 Draft. Have a look:

Top 100:
1. Nerlens Noel
13. Alex Poythress
14. Archie Goodwin
34. Willie Cauley-Stein

2013 Mock Draft:
1. Nerlens Noel — Charlotte Bobcats
13. Alex Poythress — Phoneix Suns (from the Lakers)
14. Archie Goodwin — Charlotte Bobcats (from the Trailblazers)

I do think Poythress is a baller - the kid makes it look easy when he wants to. The problem is he only wants to about 25% of the game.

How on earth is Goodwin projected as a 14 pick in the FIRST round?? Can't even see Poythress in the top half of the first round. If these two played for another team other than UK, they wouldn't even be mentioned for first rounders.

You can look at it in two ways. Either you're happy that sub-standard players (at least by your definition) leave early and make room for potentially better players (even though you feel they have no business leaving early) or you're bummed b/c players who might not be true studs as freshmen, but who would likely be very valuable contributors as sophomores (and provide experience and leadership), are leaving too soon. Good problem to have, though...

Just a little math for fun

216 fraud classes
figure 20 students per class on average.
approximately half of the students involved were athletes per U*NC

216x20= 4320

4320 x .50 = 2160 instances of athletes in fraud classes

2009 - 1997 = 12 years of admitted fraud

2160/12= 180 instances per year of athletes involved in fraud classes.

basketball players made up 4% of the students in fraud classes.

4320 X .04=172.8

173/12=14.4 basketball instances in fraud classes per year for 12 years.
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

NBA is going to introduce T-Shirt style jerseys :

Image

Image
26 percent lighter than their traditional counterparts, which Adidas said its research revealed was most important to players. They come with the ever-popular moisture-absorbing feature. The sleeves are made with stretch fabric that wraps 360 degrees around the shoulder to ensure full range of motion, because anyone who has played basketball knows how a T-shirt's sleeve can interfere with a jumper.
Apparently, several Addidas sponsored schools are considering the switch (Indiana, Louisville, Kansas, UCLA, Baylor)

The students and athletes were the ones who were frauded. They are the victims here, not the perps...

Why don't they just make those jerseys without the sleeves? Then it would be even lighter...
