You have to call PI or at least holding on that 4th down pass - my lord, it was like Crabtree was being restrained from getting in a brawl. Throw the flag, then decide if it was a catchable pass.

I don't have as much of a problem with the no call on the 4th down attempt as I do with the double freakin bear hug in the middle of the field that sprang the returner for the TD. That was just awful and right in front of everyone and they just let it go for some reason.

That and the fact that they didn't go ahead and call holding in the end zone since several 49er defenders were pulling skiers behind them. That would have negated part of the time they ran of because they held because I would think they would have to throw the flag and put the time on the clock to when the hold occured (could be wrong about that though).

Over all I thought it was a well called ballgame with the exception of the huge hold on the KR for a TD. Whoever missed that one should be in some kind of trouble.

I'm guessing whoever has those front row seats at daytona should think twice before renewing them

I like how a car has to come through a fucking crossover gate in the catch fence before someone sits down and thinks about what happens if a car hits that spot. I had no idea that they would leave a gap in their fence (which is what those gates amount to since the cabling doesnt run through those spots) and think its fine.

Its a fence. It has holes. Unless you can plexiglass a place that can withstand an engine part flying at your head at 180, what else can they do?

The way the catch fence works is it has cables running down the length of the grandstands, large parts and entire cars hit the cabling and the cabling pushes inward and tension then slows and disperses the force and keeps the big debris and hurls it back toward the track. Apparently in Daytona they have gates in the catch fencing. To have a gate, there are obviously no cables running through there. Watch the vid crash posted, you can see the gate in the fence prior to the accident. I agree with you that there will be accidents at the fence and you are always at risk of being hit by debris just like a baseball or hockey game, but THERE IS NO EXCUSE for allowing large hundreds of pound projectiles like the engine and tires entering the grandstand because you had a gap in the catch fence that was not engineered at all to stop such debris.

Again. Its a chain link fence. Anything hits it at 180, its gonna shatter into piece smaller than the holes.

Again, stuff smaller than the holes is not the issue. The issue is the engine sitting in the grandstand lower walkway, the issue is a fucking tire landing in the stands after going throu the fence. In the video crash posted a damn tire landed just to the left of the video taker. All that stuff entered the stands because they have a damned gate in the fence and thus the car punched right through and large objects were hurled into the seats.

I don't think so. It was inside the fence sheared off with the rest of the front end, the tv view as it happened was looking down the fence line on the straight, all wheels were on the car when it hit the fence and no large debris gets above the fence line.

Car hits fence

Car gets into gate opening and pierces fence

Front end is sheared off by post and front end is now inside the fence.

I believe this image shows the tire inside the fence.

I thought the tire went over the fence. Irregardless, those drunk ass rednecks in the stands know the score, most of them would think it was the greatest thing that ever happened to them (and they'd be right) if they got killed by debris from the track at a NAISCAR race...

My point is it's a fucking fence. Not the best kind of border between humans &180 mph flying objects.

I don't think they should even have a fence. Anybody that goes to a NAISCAR event deserves to die a fiery death...

I think Rat has investment money in those fence companies.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
