Your call. If I get a bottle, it is liable to last me for a decade or more, so I have no problem parting with half. The rabble I deal with around here have likely never heard of it, so I won't get the ego boost of sharing it with anybody who will be aware of the rare treat (besides, obviously, the fact that I have allowed them within my nimbus in the first place) that I am conferring upon them. I would insist upon keeping the bottle, however, in the hope that someday these peons might become aware of the super rare nature of Pappy's and the concomitant boost in their perception of my stature as a man of importance and power, a man who can acquire rare things and who deigns to share them with the likes the them. Of course, I will drink all the Pappy's myself and refill the bottle with swill, but I won't share that detail with their greedy asses...

Drink your Pappy's. Fill with Old Forrester. Sell to rube. Profit.

Upon rereading that post, I am aware that my offer to split the bottle with you might be met with some skepticism - why should you pay that kind of money for half a bottle of what will surely be Wild Turkey (at best) after hearing about such deliberate chicanery? Fear not, I will expect no recompense. So at worst, you'll get a pint of Wild Turkey gratis...

No sir. I trust you. However, a single bottle is not much. Half of that single bottle is, by my advanced calculus, only 375ml - or a scant 6 drinks or so. Say you share that half bottle with a friend, you only get 3 drinks. While your generosity to share that widow's mite of libation is munificence incarnate, it would be poor form for me to accept.

Drinks? THREE drinks??? I have been sufficiently impressed as to the venerable nature of this elixir from the conversation in here to ensure that the only taste that anybody I know will get of this Pappys is thru an eyedropper or else licking a droplet from the rim of the holy grail (which the imbiber must provide as a house gift)...

Actually, when I talked to my friend about this, he said the last time he was at an "event" at the dude's house whom I am hoping will be the ultimate source of the Pappys, he was serving Dom Perignon from jeraboams. Therefor, I expect nothing less than magnum, although I shan't refuse a methuselah, a balthazar, or a salmanazar...

If you procure a hoard of Pappy's, I shall take you up on your offer to sell me one.

He had already refilled the Old Forrester with Distiller's Pride. So..bigger profit.

I do have a friend in the business and even so it took nearly a year on the waiting list, I had been placed on three different waiting lists around locally to no avail the year before so this year I went to a store owner I know personally and got on his list and he came through. I bought two bottles and it was around 200-250 before tax (Seems like I paid like 5-6 tax and all for both bottles Tennessee has a very expensive tax not to mention federal taxes). I got the 23 year old, you can get the 17 (think it's 17) year old alot cheaper and it is dang good but the 23 yo is somthing else.

I am tempted to keep the one I still have LOL.

It is a small batch that goes out around August or Sept every year and you have to get it then pretty much since the celebs have started talking about it. It was just as good 2 years ago when my buddy bought me the 17 year old for residency graduation but it wasn't nearly as hard to come by before the publicity. I mean it was unusual and difficult then but now it's rediculous.

You are right it has to be special for me to spend that kind of money, but I make a little more than 9.95 per hour now so I can deal with it. Not a great deal more but enough I am OK with it ;)

Besides they were gifts for special people so it's worth it.

Got a text from my buddy. He confirms that Pappy's is very difficult to acquire, massive cult following. He says he thinks he can get some...

Great, you will like whichever one he can get ahold of I am sure. Let us know what you got and what you think of it.

He hasn't gotten it yet but, unlike me, he is not one to make idle boasts. I would guess he spends in the lowish 5 figures on wine annually, which would qualify him as a pretty good customer to any vendor I can imagine. We shall see...

Spent the weekend in Charleston, went to a bar last night called The Gin Joint, they had Pappy's on the menu. An Old-fashioned made with Papp's was $50. I did not order one...

I'll be spending a week in Charleston in April. Any suggestions?
