IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/irs-che ... 000-family
The current average plan for a family of four is approximately $20,500. Family of FOUR.

The IRS projection is for a family of five. Family of FIVE.

Cheaper in 2016 for five than it was for four in 2012? When family healtcare premiums generally rise 6-8% on average. Heh - so yes, puter - it may not be that rosey.

http://money.cnn.com/2012/03/29/pf/heal ... /index.htm
Ummm isn't the whole point of the AFFORDABLE care act to lower the cost of insurance as people are forced to buy or pay the TAX?

Doesn't seem to be doing shit does it?

Of course as you know I've always said the whole intent was to fuck it all up beyond repair so that the screams for single payer are the "only" solution. Off to a good start.

Hmmm I wonder why the headline for the ATL school shooting wasn't more like this considering the debate going on:

"Student shot, wounded at Atlanta middle school. Shooter stopped by armed guard."

I always thought the ACA was intended to get more paying insureds into the healthcare system and therefore staunch the big yearly raises in premiums. If those dubious IRA projections are even close to being correct, then that will be mission accomplished and will indeed be "doing shit."

Again - currently a family of five is probably paying in the neighborbood of 23-24k. Why do you think paying 20k in 2016 is so terrible? Didn't they teach you arithmatic at Powell Elementary?

Where do you get 23-24k for a family of 5 today? I'm a family of 5 and the total cost was 15k ish. Which still seems crazy high to me.

You got a payroll tax break from oprama two years ago. You failed to appreciate it at the time...never said thank-you...but now you moan about it's passing.

The Money article I posted forecasted over 20k for a family of four for 2012. The actual total in 2011 was $19,300. If you interpolate correctly, a family of of FIVE would probably be more than 23-24k. Just trying to keep it real.

These are national averages so your 15k ish is on the low side. You live in TN and doctors hear rootinely make $12/hr, or so I here.

Maybe it was his first day on the job.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

I have a BC/BS plan for my family of 5 at around the 15K-16K range. Maybe these government plans are too Cadillac...

Tick, correction ALL DOCTORS in the US make around that figure for the first 3-10 years depending on how long they do residency/fellowship. It changes a little by where you are but not by very much. When I was at 9.95 per hour the interns in New York were only about 10.50 an hour and that was if they were lucky enough to be in a program that didn't violate the 80 hour per week 50 week per year maximum (many programs do violate it routinely, mine did not they stuck right to it. We didn't get any more time off but we didn't violate it either otherwise it would have been less than that per hour).

My family of four plan is 7200-8400 per year and that article said Opramas 20,000 dollar plan was the CHEAPEST PLAN AVAILABLE, not average and it was for 4 or 5 they said according to the news on the radio so yeah if the cheapest plan available is that expensive then opramacare would have significantly increased the cost of insurance even using your numbers becuase you are using the average and 20 grand is the cheapest, bottom of the barrell plan under Opramacare.

I'm paying 18K for a family of 3 (still carrying my unemployed 25 year old son). Of course, Mrs. JD goes to the MD weekly, whether she's sick or not, and demands an MRI every time she breaks a fingernail, so I figure our insurer is losing money on us.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

Family of three cost me 10k. MY plan is 80/20. What percentage does your plan pay?
