By contrast, Alabama has been on probation three times since then. Maybe a discussion of cheating should be on their thread.

A bought title, with Cam and the Tigers only getting off because of a loophole that had to be closed.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I gotta agree with AA here. It's not that I "care" at all, just like I suspect most SEC fans don't really care about the academic scandal at UNC. But I'm sure I can speak for plenty of general college football fans who really don't have anything against Auburn in general or even specifically concerning Cam when I say the general perception is that Auburn's 2010 title is tainted. Does that mean anything "offically"? Of course not. Does it even mean anything to Auburn fans what the general college football fan (non SEC team fan) thinks? Probably not. Scratch that: Certainly not. But there you have it...

Those athletes were cheated by a couple of rogue professors. What bothers me more is the far greater number of non-athletes who were also cheated by those couple of rogue professors who by their unilateral actions brought a small bit of shame to the university as a whole (not to the athletic program). But once the administration realized what was going on, they took quick action to correct the problem and strengthen the university, for which I applaud them. The athletes nor anyone in the athletic department have any blame (nor shame) in this, they did nothing wrong deliberately, they were duped and cheated. Therefor none of our athletic accomplishments were tainted...

took quick action? since 1997? what about the classes that had only athletes in them? why would crowder and nagario sign Marvin Austin up for a 400 level no show class before he even showed up on campus. what about Gov Martin's claim that the athletic department informed the academics about the no show classes, but that claim is now shown to be a lie. what about athletes representing 3% of the student body and 60% of the make up of the fraud classes?

I share your outrage at the 2 or 3 rogue professors who duped the students, student-athletes and fans of UNC, as well as the taxpayers of North Carolina. Good riddance to them. Thankfully we have emerged a stronger institution b/c of their actions. I share your excitement and admiration for that as well...
