I'm not a huge fan of the Hilton Riverfront's placement and proximity.

I'd much prefer the New Orlean's Sheraton or the Marriott (not the JW, the 'regular' Marriott) as my choice for the mega-sized conference hotel in NOLA.

Also, the rooms are nicer at the Sheraton and the (regular) Marriott.

again, we're so late in the process, we have limited choices.

Random Aside: Miss America, who is from Alabama, lives in Brooklyn.

I think that's what put her over the top (and for being definitively against arming guards/teachers in schools, in front of a decidely liberal forum of judges).
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

AA has given me lots of great advice re; NOLA over the years - but he is wrong about the Hilton.

GREAT location - easy walk to the casino, attached to the riverwalk mall, very close to Mothers, the chargrilled Oysters in the hotel restuarant (Dragos) are outstanding, etc

Now the two hotels on Canal he is touting are also very nice, but nothing wrong w/ the Hilton, my son and I just stayed there for the last Saints game of the season .

There's nothing 'wrong' with that Hilton - but it's very much inferior to the Marriott and Sheraton.

I don't care for that casino, and even if I did, I would probably not spend time there while in the NOLA.

The shopping mall is a shopping mall ...and an average one at that. I have no interest in even walking through it again. Once was plenty. I mean, c'mon, are you going to go to the food court or buy a new bathrobe or whatever while you're down there?

Drago's is okay and those grilled oysters are good, but Drago's wouldn't even crack the top 100 on places to eat for someone new to the city.

While the walk to Mother's is good, it's a mile walk from that Hilton to the center of Bourbon. Of course, you can cab it, but -as you know- that's spotty at night in the FQ and CBD.

Oh I hate that mall (any mall actually) but I do love the casino so maybe that clouds my judgement of the hotel.

And again, I'm not saying its better than the other two - but it would do fine for ecats large group.

Sheraton >>>> Hilton. Never stayed at the Marriott.

The Golden Moon/Silverstar is much better than that Harrah's in NOLA.

And, sure, that Hilton will be okay. But if eCat really wants to impress 'the big boss' (who will be pissed he's not playing golf at the JW in Phoenix, anyway), then we've gotta get eCat to hit this outta the park.

Where is the Golden Moon/Silverstar?

My new favorite place to eat in NO is GW Fins.

You got any new places - I've finally made it to all of the last list you sent me?

The Silverstar is in Podunk, Mississippi. It's on the way to NOLA if you're driving I59.

Anyway, was in NOLA two weekends before Christmas. Dined at Commander's three of the four dinner meals. Hard to go wrong there.

Have you done Herbsaint, Doc? It's not new, but I can't remember if I included it on the last list I sent.

Damn it. I gotta go back now.

Thanks a lot, eCat and Van Nostrun.

OK - I usually fly or drive I-10 from Tally so I missed that one.

CP is always outstanding.

Will add Herbsaint to my todo list - wasnt on the other list.

What dont you like about the Harrahs? - granted its not the Bellagio - but I've always had a blast there and generally done well $$$ wise.

House rules on blackjack aren't great- specifically the pen. Overcrowded. Not a great comp program (in comparison).

You have to pay the dreaded T&A tax anytime there are good looking females dealing.

Still a few 3:2 BJ and dealer stand on soft 17 but you do have to hunt.

my boss doesn't play golf. He does ski though. Not sure how that would work in during August.

Another thing about my boss - he gives me shit if I don't keep my hair in a buzz cut. Right now I have a 2 month growth of beard and relatively long hair for me. It will all be gone before I see him again. Luckily I only see him maybe 3 times a year.
