Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I have heard rumors that the English Department at UT is trying to keep the players down. Can you confirm or deny?

"To change the subject..."
Why'd you go and do that? It was just getting good. Well, as good as a cripple fight is going to get, anyway...

Gainesville Sun: Omari Phillips Denied Admission to UF
http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20 ... /120709914
Phillips is the first UF recruit since defensive tackle Santonio Thomas in 2000 to be ruled academically eligible by the NCAA but failed to meet UF academic standards.
Fact: Phillips was officially cut loose by UF because of academic reasons. Fact: he enrolled at UT a week later.
That was a link to a published newspaper article, BOJ - the stuff actual journalists write. There have been a bejillion words written in local and state newspapers about the current sorry state of UT football, yet no mention is given to your english department nonsense. If there had been, you would have sleuthed them out with your amazing search engine skills by now. heh

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Yeah cause a university would never sell a story that is a little off to cover getting a kid in and then punting him after they had cold feet and recruited over him. Look at what Hyams said "that didn't happen", UF cut him loose. Of course he wouldn't get in under the general student population standards, but he was in by UF football player standards until they recruited over him and got cold feet. I gave you the link and even the time where Hyams said it.bluetick wrote:Gainesville Sun: Omari Phillips Denied Admission to UF

So you are officially saying Hubbs, Hyams, and the Gainsville Sun reporter are lying because that link above is to a free website, I know you can get on there and listen to the quote. Of course you could just read it above too heh.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
FL used academic eligibility to cut loose a player they had second thoughts about as a baller - you know that works for me, right? LOL
Post a link about TN's high academic standards for footballers or kindly stfu.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Look I am not against good academics, I tutored when I was in undergrad for goodness sake. But the coaches were allowed to check on the progress of the student. You have Hubbs specifically saying we lost CP due to the issues at UT and at UT alone ("specific to Tennessee"). While I am happy to have good standards I don't want to lose players like CP knowing that each and every one of our rival SEC schools would have him for another year. Hubbs didn't mince words on that one, CP is only going to be ineligible because of these issues at UT.bluetick wrote:FL used academic eligibility to cut loose a player they had second thoughts about as a baller - you know that works for me, right? You keep changing things and never adress anything. I do post links and you deny them or say that person isn't credible. So let me add to the list of people that are not credible according to Tick, that list would include anyone not with Air America as well as people with inside football knowledge at UT including Matthews, Hubbs, Hyams etc etc etc etc. oh yeah and the Gator reporter at The Gainsville Sun, gotta add him in there too.
But the schools official press release is always accurate, I mean no way that POS Scumbag knew about the violations he comitted at UT, no way he knew about all the shenanigans going on at USC now and there is no way the football program cut a guy and let him be denied based on different criteria so they wouldn't get into trouble about not honoring a scholarship. Never happens.
Since I don't subscribe to Air America I guess I will never be able to link a source acceptable to you but that's OK I think I can live with that

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Good post, BoJ.
FWIW, you've beaten the fire outta tick since this debate started. Someone needs to mercy rule this and call the game. It's getting hard to watch. It's become 1990 Steven Segal vs a crippled blind child in a wheelchair. Just not sporting anymore.

I did not about your own academic excellence, BOJ. Clearly I've misjudged you.
Keep up the good work and let us know when the english department screws is out of another player who is leaving school to become a first-round multi-millionaire.

I've heard a rumour lately the English Department is holding us back. Has anyone else heard this? Any truth to this?
