No, I've decided to magnanimously cede the UNC thread to redneck racing and other similar nonsense. Since it's the offseason, this thread can be commandeered for the purposes of soccer discussion, e.g., Gold Cup, Copa America, MLS. Come the fall, it might get kind of busy with football season and the European leagues starting up, but it can probably work anyway.

Corky told me Tressel is actually a likeable and genuinely good guy... whose intentions were good. And that, for a change, he's one coach who might actually have been naive - to a great extent - inre the shit-anigans at a cesspool of lawlessness like Ohio State. That the upbringing he had a lil 'ol Youngstown could not have possibly prepared him for the "book of eli" world of trying to compete for every shred of meat and drop of water at that level.

All this garbage in CFB and CBB will go on and on from now to the 2nd coming, until the NCAA takes the necessary action that will force the NFL and the NBA to form minor leagues like MLB and the NHL. That may involve the elimination of all athletic scholarships on all levels. Don't laugh, it may eventually come to that. These state governments are broke and most college do not make money, but in fact lose millions on their athletic programs. The NFL and the NBA have been saving themselves the cost of minor leagues by using the universities to groom and develop their talent for decades at taxpayer expense. That day may be coming to an end.

FBS Football and Division I Men's Basketball fund EVERYTHING in college athletics. The schools, media, athletic wear companies, etc. make a shitton off these sports. I don't know what the answer is to clean this shit up...but something has to change.
