I have always been a big critic of W's handling of Iraq. Just ask the conservative independent moderates. But these misadventures account for only a minor portion of the deficit/debt.

What in the world are you talking about? This has nothing to do with how much the wars costs.
There are few economists who do not think we spend too much. In fact, they think we spend too little. These handful of economists, like Krugman, get center stage because it fits the liberal philosophy even though they are in the vast minority of economists. Most feel we do need to cut spending on future entitlements for us to avoid Europe's situation.

"Incidentally, debt at the time of 9/11 was 6.1 trillion. Debt at 9/11/2011 was 14 trillion. So an 8 trillion dollar difference of which up to 3.2 trillion to half of that is due to the wars since 9/11."

Why did you lie, sardis?

"But these misadventures account for only a minor portion of the deficit/debt."

Well, maybe a minor portion of the debt, but what about the thousands of lives lost for nothing? How much were those worth? Yet everybody in here seems far more concerned with filthy lucre than human lives. Figures...

I like to think those thousands of lives eventually took out benladen and multiple alqueda #2"s

if anything iraq attracted multiple foreign fighters into iraq and intel from them and hussein led to some good intel

was it worth 3000 lives and 10K injured and maimed--not to their families it wasnt

but its nice being on irans back door with a country that at least is somewhat friendly to us

sardis wrote:"How our military decisions alone have bankrupted us."

Are you going to ignorantly stand by that statement?

Since 9/11 our debt has increased $10 trillion. The wars have contributed $1 trillion of that.
Calm down, Francis. That statement was made by Ron Paul during a debate...referring to the two wars and having "950 military bases in 1300 countries" (he got a giggle from the audience with those numbers, but he made his point).

Again, I should have made Paul's point more clear. "Military decisions" included the wars but he was also a major critic of the enormity of our military budgets and our bases stretched out all over the world.

As opposed to a country that is back door to Iran that is actively hostile to it?? Iraq is closer to Iran now than it had been in the previous 20 years.

I have doubts about Iraq's friendliness towards us. Karzai likes us as long as we keep him alive and we pay him. I still think we'll witness the Fall of Baghdad in the style of the Fall of Saigon.

Its been said before but it is worth saying now...

A call girl is nothing more than a very attractive, organized, sales-focused, and expensive whore.

A gold-digger is nothing more than a very smart, focused, and all-about-winning call girl.

A trophy-wife is nothing more than a very lucky gold-digger who stumbled upon a needy, wealthy man, with no self-confidence. Location, location, location!
