Christmas does indeed bring an unusual amount of attention to those "in need." Toys for Tots. Empty Stocking Fund. Angel Tree. Santa's Helpers. etc etc

But feel free to share any other cartoon stories that touch you in a very special way, regardless of the context.
You are trying to reframe the meaning of Christmas by being a douchenozzle. Reframing an issue that is sacred to me, touches you in a very special way.

Christians are always aware of those in need, not just a Christmas time. The Angel Tree, Toys for Tots, Santa Helper's, all that is, is 3rd party organizations organizing around getting people (mostly Christians, certainly not ONLY Christians) to donate anonomously. They just get from A and deliever to B. They do this because THEY see those people as "needy." But Christians donate to the needy all year round. We do that because that is what Christ commands of us. We are acting Christ-like.

The birth of our Savior is critical for all of as as this one man saved our souls from eternal damnation. That is why we celebrate His birth. Those who may REJECT (utterly) the belief that Christ was born to save us all, may have more attention paid to those "in need" around the time of His birth (which is probably why you thought to mention it and in the context that you have given), but this is an every day feeling for ordinary Christians.

PS: you still haven't gotten back to me with your comments about why you think this is a no vacation nation. You posted it, so I want to understand the point you were making. I say that because I have plenty of paid vacation.

Is that a bad thing? Maybe we were going soft and this is the 2 percenters way of saying the party is over. Time to work harder with less leave time - for stagnant wages. And if you're one of those who lost their job due to an outsource or downsize, maybe come back as a independant contractor with no benefits (or as a PTer with no benefits). Or maybe you'll just have to cool your heels since the company is doing gangbusters with half the staff.

At Christmas, people pay WAY too much attention to needy and average people. Average people are inconsequential. They are almost as bad as those lazy, good-for-nothing needy people, who are just interested in gaming the system. This is what IB has taught us.

Isn't it time that we spent a little time at Christmas giving thanks for wealthy people? Take Scrooge for instance. He worked his tail off day and night making money for his company and make the world a better place. Now THERE's a producer! But is Ebenezer appreciated? No. Everybody feels sorry for the little crippled kid, what's his name, who probably wasn't even crippled anyway, but was collecting disability and sponging off the real heroes who work for a living, like Scrooge.

And Mr. Potter did more for society than George Bailey.

I skipped about 3 pages. I just want to know if anyone called IB a grocery clerk sent to collect a bill at some point during the HoD/AN talk...

" I just want to know if anyone called IB a grocery clerk sent to collect a bill at some point during the HoD/AN talk..."

I did after he claimed he liked that scene, but it became clear that he had no idea what he or I was talking about. He said he wasn't good at running errands. It became even more clear that he had no concept of what any of the book or movie was about when he referred to Colonel Kurtz as Colonel Klink. And he was serious...

Summary: This is a comparison paper on the novel "Heart of Darkness" and the movie "Apocalypse Now." In the excerpt the theme of corruption in imperialism is discussed by taking both works and finding parallelism.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both the novel "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad and the movie "Apocalypse Now" are about one man's journey through the dark, cruel wilderness of Africa and Vietnam. Marlow's mission is to rescue Kurtz from up the Congo at the inner station, while Willard's is to terminate Kurtz's command up the Nung River, by any means necessary. Much parallelism can be found between the movie and the novel, yet also there are discrepancies that separate the two. The characters of the two have different parts and roles but have related purposes toward the general themes of imperialism. Imperialism in both works shows the blinding of its oppressors and the arrogance to the truth of colonization. Through analysis and comparison of the characters a parallel of themes can be made between the novel "Heart of Darkness" and the movie "Apocalypse Now."
So sorry for channelling Hogan's Heros by calling the Colonel "Klink" instead of "Kurtz." We all have an occasional brain fart. But it appears hedge that your brain fart is continuous.

Don't look for this on the 6:00 news....when spoken by a conservative, this would be hate speech.

What Mr Belafonte said about Gen Colin Powell and Dr Condolezza Rice (calling them house slaves working for their white masser) was damning, but it was only damning for the credibility of Harry Belafonte. I regard him as a senile old man. He's not to be taken seriously.

"Learn to g-o-o-g-l-e."

That says a lot about our respective understandings of Heart of Darkness. Mine comes from actually reading the book multiple times, while yours comes from reading an excerpt from a borderline hilarious (b/c so far off base) comparison paper that some fool wrote for a college class, an appropriately (for you) bite sized morsel small enough for you to digest in one sitting...

"Imperialism in both works shows the blinding of its oppressors and the arrogance to the truth of colonization."

Ignoring for the moment that this sentence is almost meaningless garble, the point that it is so lamely and fucked up-edly attempting to make is just outright wrong. The whole point of HoD is its unflinching look at imperialism, not its blindness to imperialism. And yet your entire understanding (or rather misunderstanding) is based completely on this idiocy, which actually and ironically makes you feel even more clever b/c you googled it, when in reality it makes you an even bigger idiot than you already were (which I would've hardly believed possible) before you googled it...

"Marlow's mission is to rescue Kurtz from up the Congo at the inner station"

That is not Marlow's "mission" at all, a simple plot point that even the simplest of simpletons (such as yourself) would immediately understand if you had read the book. But no, you'd rather google some retarded secondary source and then pat yourself on the back and really think you know something when all you've done is armed yourself with ignorance which you really believe is knowledge and understanding, just like you do on every other subject I've ever heard you opine on. So no, it wasn't just a brain fart when you referred to Kurtz as Klink (the fact that your entire intellectual life could fairly be described as a brain fart notwithstanding), it was perfectly apropos, esp. considering the fact that you are virtually a living version of the bumbling, inept cartoon character of Col. Klink yourself...
