Independent poll says UK fans outnumber UL fans 4:1 in the state.

-Kentucky fans out number Louisville ones by a 66/17 margin. This is one of the most lopsided rivalries we've ever polled on. John Calipari has a 49/15 favorability rating, a good deal better than Rick Pitino's 44/32. Louisville fans support their school's move to the ACC by a 70/7 margin.

-The Bengals win big as Kentucky's favorite NFL team with 25% to 11% for the Cowboys and Packers, 9% for the Colts, 8% for the Bears, 7% for the Steelers, 5% for the Titans, and less than 1% for the Rams.

-And in very important news, Kentucky voters prefer Jim Beam over Jack Daniels 20-18.

Accrediting agency to review academic procedures at UNC-Chapel Hill

A fifth review has been launched in UNC-Chapel Hill’s saga of academic fraud involving athletes.

This week, the university’s accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, said it would review UNC-CH’s handling of the academic irregularities in the African and Afro-American Studies department.

Chancellor Holden Thorp was notified in a telephone call, he wrote in a memo to trustees.

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is a regional accreditation body that is recognized by the United States Department of Education. They are responsible for accrediting schools and colleges in all of the southern states — Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
SACS-COC was founded in 1895 and is located in Decatur, Georgia. Just like other accreditation commissions and associations in other regions, the mission of SACS-COC is to help improve the quality of education in colleges within that region. To do that they work on creating a series of criteria that must be adhered to before accreditation can be granted. The colleges also need to renew their accreditation periodically once they get it.
