Re: Tennessee Volunteers
The slammed door to the face in the Gruden matter is it appears there was never a conversation with him to begin with. It appears the search for Gruden was the fantasy of a bunch of Internet rumor mongers with their "insider" info. Oh, and a big shit sandwich to Hyams and Ainge. Got to stir the sheep to get those listener numbers up somehow, eh boys?
Two items which concern me now:
1) We aren't going to get anyone better than Dooley. Hence the question, "If we get so-so, then why did we get rid of Dooley?" I'm really beginning to think we should've kept Dooley. I didn't think it was a good idea to get rid of him but I wasn't against it either. What a big fucking mistake this is turning out to be.
2) What a clusterfuck this has been getting rid of Dooley without having someone hired first. Or, at least have a good bead on two or three candidates. It appears firing Dooley was a completely reactive response. "Oh fuck! We lost again. There goes Haslam's money. MUST FIRE DOOLEY!!!" Who ever did this should be terminated.
Looks like Chaney is going to get the primo coaching job of lifetime. Congrats!!

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
So you're saying Gruden didn't slam the door in UT's face, he refused to open it in the first place?

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Well, I just got a phone call from a little birdy...
The birdy pointed out the article mentioned there was no contract tenured from Hart. Apparently, everything was and is being done through the boosters right now in regards to Gruden. The guy who wrote the Chatt-Times article had multiple sources for what he wrote. His editor verified the sources and his boss in turn verified the sources. One of the authors sources had an email from a certain agent, who may have been Gruden's (i.e. it was Gruden's agent, LaMonte himself) where the email was a conversation between LaMonte and a booster.
Supposedly, things have gone far enough Gruden has picked out his staff. As the Chatt-Times article stated, the hangup in the final announcement in all of this is the salaries of Gruden's coaching staff. Until that is resolved, nothing will be announced. Once the boosters confirm to UT Gruden is a done deal, then Hart will produce a contract.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
So the boosters are in charge of the coaching search? Nothing can go wrong there.
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

Fedora isn't going anywhere this year, but I am not foolish enough to think that he will be here for twenty years either. I suspect he will be like Mack. He will build up the program and then look to take the final step to the upper echelon.
I proudly took AFAM 040 at Carolina.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
It would be interesting to see UNC in the SEC. Maybe we could start getting some of the in state talent the want to play in the real big leagues...

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Wow. 'Bama just got fucked. That pass was not tipped. That bad call led to blocked fg and a ga td.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I don't have a (ahem) dog in this fight, but from my persepctive, Bama seems to be the better team. Like you said, a shitty call then leads to a fluke-y TD for GA. Not saying Bama would've scored on that drive, but it's big swing. Meanwhile, Bama is playing smash mouth football and ramming it down Georgia's throat. And yet Georgia is leading. But hey, that's football...
