yep. they have a tough road but probably as good of a chance as they've ever had. they have a kid headed to LSU (Lewis Neal) and a RB with 2K yards already (probably headed to App. St.) and some other college prospects, including jr. DB Dexter Wright who State is all over. and I believe this is Randy Raper's last year as head coach.

Raper is not an uncommon last name around here.

Well, it doesn't look like Carolina is going to be in the hunt for an NC this year. On a brigher note, it doesn't appear that UK is, either...

It took Alabama a 3-point bucket at the buzzer to beat South Dakota State. Either they're very good or we're very bad.

It probably wouldn't have been as fun if Maryland had somehow pulled off the upset. At any rate, hope we can expect many more "fun" games like that from UK this year. About time they finally had a team full of freshmen that actually played like freshmen. They are good, no doubt, but clearly a cut below recent UK vintage for freshmen. And this year no seasoned and talented upperclassmen, i.e., Patterson, Jones, Miller, etc, to pick up the slack and provide leadership. Again, about damn time. You're still probably a top 10 team, but at least not clearly and indisputably a top 2 team (and by a pretty large margin)...

I fully expect us to lose to Duke. Then they get a steady stream of second tier teams until the SEC. I don't know how much was fatigue tonight. Cauley Stein is a beast when he isn't tired.

Fatigue? In the first game of the season?

I did not know that South Dakota State went to the NCAA tourney last year! They supposedly won 27 games and finished the with an RPI of 38. And they only lost one player off last year's team. They have a 2 named Nate Wolters who is on the Wooden Preseason Top 50. He is supposed to be special. The kid wanted to live up to that because he dropped 30 on Bama.

GREAT WIN FOR BAMA!

Kidding aside, we were down 13 in the first half to a team named the Jackrabbits and we had to sweat to come back and win the damn game. If Grant has another so-so season, he needs to be fired. If that happens, I say we go after the NC State coach. I hear he is a Bama alum.

Would be a smart move. I bet he could take Bama to SEC championships, #1 rankings and maybe even a regional final appearance!

I guess I see why Teflon Cal didn't want an old fashioned curb stomping by the Hoosiers in his place this year.

Don't worry, the Tar Heel nation gets their whooping in just a few weeks.
