Cutcliffe took the Ole Miss HC job for 1.85 million - and also because HE WANTED TO BE A HEAD COACH.Big Orange Junky wrote:Well what Matthews said didn't have anything to do with Fuller and hubs seems to be confirming it (wouldn't pay for cut or other assistants for fulmer, paid for pos scumbag then used it as an excuse to not pay when dooley was hired and now saying they don't like to explain coaches salaries to pissed off professors).
He got fired, and landed his old gig with fulmer. After two years, he took a Duke's offer of 1.75 mil (over 2mil with endorsements) and also because HE WANTED TO BE A HEAD COACH.
Matthews saying UT wouldn't pay enough to keep Cutcliffe as Fulmer's OC is ASSININE. The only way to keep Cut was to give him Phil's job (wouldn't have hurt my feelings).

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Tic I think cuts name was just mentioned because it revolved around him leaving. They wanted two good choices to replace him now I can't even remember who but seems like it was kippy and somebody else and the chancelor refused to pay them and only allowed 300 grand in a market that needed more. Pretty damning commentary. Did you listen?
The thing that seems to corroborate the story is Brice seeming to agree and the fight between hart and cheek going on now with a bot meeting with going back to athletics without cheek as the boss.
Doesn't sound good and rumor is other coaches saying nobody will want to come because the coaches are hamstrung by cheek.
Was on mobile, unable to post much.
Anyway I know nothing on the hill that's why I wanted to get others opinions, especially with them saying now the Thorton Center has been bastardized and athletes aren't welcome any more and all that jazz.
Always thought Matthews gave good info, I know Brice and Hubbs do and they seemed to go along with it in the troubles since acaedemics got ahold of the purse strings.
I was just trying to verify Matthews and Hubbs/Brice etc with people that may be in the know.
So if you guys get a chance to listen tell me what you thing (about everything except the Coach Cut thing, I think I know your feelings on that and frankly I can't remember for sure but again he may have only been mentioned in the context of it was his job they were replacing, I'd have to check to be sure).
Anyway aside from Matthews, Brice, and Hubbs now there are rumors about some Susan Martin from Cal Bezerkely on the BOT as well and them blocking athletic spending. There's even a "Fire Susan Martin" thread with her bio on it LOL. Yes supposedly they have made it harder to get a football player into UT than any other school in the SEC (I figgured surely they were leaving out Vandy but I don't know).
Putting athletics under the control of the English department was a mistake, I don't care who did it. It needs to be fixed. (English department is a figure of speach).
Have you heard anything about the Board of Trustees meeting that was supposed to try and fix this? I doubt it will, pencil headed geeks like Cheek and Martin won't give up power easily.

That's crap. UT raised standards for ACT and minimum GPA but that doesn't apply to scholarship football players. Marsalis Teague got in with an ACT of ten, for crissakes. Last fall our team gpa (scholarship players only) was 1.9.
We got a DL transfer from the gators in July who couldn't cut it at FL admissions-wise.
If Dooley couldn't get players in because of high academic standards you know he'd be bitching about it louder than anybody, cause he needs all the excuses he can get.

Dooley beat MTSU. Wherever he lands, he can look back on that one with satisfaction.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Quick question about Troy that bugs me. Its a state school right? I assume the state of Alabama is funding it. How is it that they have campuses in Florida (I think Ive seen signs in Pensacola, Panama City, and either Ft Walton or Mary Esther or somewhere.)
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I only know of campuses in Alabama. They are aggressive marketing their eLearning programs, though. If they have an out-of-state campus, I am unaware of it or its location.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
When you drive through the panhandle you see several signs that say "Troy University" and point you a direction (usually into town). Perhaps its just recruiting/outreach, but its wierd that they would have those signs just for that.

I don't know; have you looked for the campuses on-line?

I know there is a small Dothan, AL campus... Drive through Dothan on the way to Mom's house a couple of times a year.AlabamAlum wrote:aTm wrote:When you drive through the panhandle you see several signs that say "Troy University" and point you a direction (usually into town). I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbecued iguana
I'd take requests on the telephone
I'm on a wavelength far from home
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
I dial it in from south of the border
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand, just what does he say?
