I think they would have had her do a provisional vote and then no telling if they wouid actually count it or not? (or accidentally lose it)

Ahh, so you do believe it was something untoward? Is there proof that they selectively purged?

It was a local official who did this? What is their political affiliation? What do you believe the purpose was: To swing a local or state race or to swing Texas' EVs in the presidential election?

I think there is a national effort to selectively go after what is seen as likely Democratic voters as this problem is occurring mostly in states with Republican controlled state legislatures. In Texas, the local election official refused to purge any of these partial matches, but the state Attorney General froze all of the local funds until they did.

I ask you what you think the reason is?

This is the first I've heard about any issues, where else is it happening? I know Alabama had a problem with deceased on the roster and we purged them back in 2005 or so. Wasn't a big deal. Probably about time again.

Anyway, to what's happening in Texas: if there is a national (or even widespread local) effort to intentionally remove valid voters from the roster along party lines, it will be easy to prove - especially if they are not actually reinstating to the roster at the polls, but just taking a provisional vote that they plan to trash.

I doubt Alabama has not had an issue with deceased voting fraud. States are purging eligible voters in the 10's to 100's of thousands and at most are finding less than 100 nationwide voter fraud. This isn't about voter fraud, this is about disenfranchising votes.

What other states, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania. Tenn won't allow a state college id, but will allow a hunting license.

The hunting license thing is silly. Most hunting licenses aren't even picture IDs. As far as voter fraud, I personally know of some in my area.

Anyway, If it is an organized effort to exclude legitimate voters, and on a national scale, I think we should be able to find out, and if that's the case, we need to dust off some of our capital punishments for high treason.

Apparently not, it's the first I've heard of a national effort to exclude voters because they supported a particular party.

It's been on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, multiple times and NPR on the radio. The guy in Pennsylvania bragged that it would help Romney win the state of Pennsylvania. Estimates were that up to 800,000 people otherwise eligible to vote would not be able to cast a ballot.

they have a video from the rep in Pennsylvania talking about how voter registration laws will guarantee a Mitt Romney win.

doesn't get much more blatant than that.

Who do you think is the ringleader of orchestrating this national effort?

wouldn't even venture a guess.

its obviously a coordinated effort - and that effort far exceeds the actual need to address the issue. While I have no problem with someone showing an ID to vote, the issue isn't that thousands of people are showing up to vote multiple times for Barak Obama. If there is a voter fraud issue, its with the people that count the votes and a voter ID law isn't going to address that.

If the solution doesn't address the problem, then you have to ask what the solution intends to do?

Reading up on Turzai. He believes that Pennsylvania has a big issue with voter fraud (something that there is apparently no evidence of) and that the only way Obama wins the state is if there is rampant voter fraud.

He sounds like a goober.

Allowing ineligible people to vote in essence excludes the vote of legitimate voters. Your snit is mere tartuffery.

I'm in a snit? I wasn't even aware!

What's funny is, I'm not on either side. I'm okay with voter ID, but the hubbub over voter fraud from that group s way overblown (and hunting license = okay, but college ID = not okay is silly), and I do not believe that there is a national effort to disenfranchise or exclude voters.

Snit was't for you. It was directed at those who see one form of voter fraud as OK but not the other.

I think the justification for republicans is using some example of Florida and there being something like 500 votes difference in determining who won the state.

Yes, I do believe there is voter fraud, but I don't think as a % it amounts to a hill of beans. I don't see how any person can see that the driver of all this activity is GOP leadership and not believe its intended to exclude Obama voters by not making voting valid but making it such a pain in the ass they stay home.

Real voter fraud to me is going to Wal-Mart and realizing any one of those people votes count as much as mine.
