Pretty much the same as it was in October 1984. Didn't seem to affect Reagan's reelection...

Unemployment was 5.8% in 2008. It's now 7.8%.

Romney has fallen behind Obama in the Rasmussen again. The state polls usually lag a little behind. Debate bounce over?

"That's a bunch of malarkey!"

Way to come out swinging, Joe!
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

10ac, next time at 'Dega, let me know. I don't go to the races, but I'd love to buy you a drink. I know some places in Pell City and Anniston that are worthwhile.

It dropped from double digit unemployment in 1982 with double digit inflation, (17% in 1979). People were thrilled with what Reagan did (given the nightmare they witnessed with Jimmy Carter.) It is called making progress. They saw Reagan making progress getting it down to 7.8% (whilc reducing inflation.)

This President has has NO inflation, just unemployment. 5.8% unemployment in 2008 (with Dubya) to 8% today. Its not progress Hedge.

Where is this 5.8% unemployment number coming from? Was that the average for all of 2008? That's wonderful, but unemployment in January 2009, when Bush handed the keys to Obama, it had risen to 7.8% and was climbing.

Unemployment slowly began to rise in mid-2007. It then exploded in the second half of 2008, especially after the Sept. crash, and didn't peak until late 2009

5.8% was the unemployment rate on November 6th of 2008 after Senator Obama was elected President. Just him winning election, and employers slashed jobs.

Actually, 5.8% unemployment is not all that wonderful. It's okay, far better than what we have now, but not wonderful. Wonderful unemployment is 3%, a rate so low that employees can blackmail their employers into giving them raises, an unemployment rate so low that anyone who wants a job can get one. That would be wonderful.

Anyway, CNN has Ryan winning the debate tonight.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... ?hpt=hp_t1

I agree Ryan did win, but not as decisively as Governor Romney won his debate. I think the Vice President thinks he can win the argument (any argument) by yelling loudly. And only 44% of the CNN respondants agreed with him.

CBS has it the other way - Biden won big in their poll:

In this debate we can "debate" who won the debate. It wasn't decisive the way the debate was last week.

Being loud doesn't mean you are right.

If you were unemployed (or even better, dead), I'd call that progress. Best of all would be you crying out in pain from hunger and sickness and torture with no remedy. That would be my dream world....
