so I post a picture of the motorcycle I just bought out on facebook and this is what my 78 year old mother posts as a comment

" I need a toy like that to get to the garden and back, but guess I'll have to settle for a snapper lawn mower,if I can find a good used one. it is cool."

is that straight out of Mayberry or what?
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

"my house has mostly plaster walls and I can get a signal from one corner of the upstairs to the back of the downstairs."

I don't have any problem getting the wireless signal upstairs, that's a huge unimpeded hole in the ceiling...

Anybody have any advice on tablets? I know I don't want an Apple one though and can spend about $400 if it's worth it.

Ipad. That is the way to go if you are spending that much money.

If not - http://www.google.com/nexus/#/7

I have yet to play with the Nexus one but want to see how it interacts with the PC. Meaning can I put my own movies and books on there without having to use Amazon and such.

The Ipad 3 I used at my last job was pretty awesome.

The Ipad would be the way to go for her. It is pretty simple interface and easy to pick up. Might be easier for her to handle with her health issues and such.

BTW...how is momma?

Thanks too TimeWarner Cable agreeing to have NFL Network, I think I may have solved the internet issue. Changing to cable from DTV, I can add roadrunner for about $20 a month when you bundle. This will save me from having to keep a phone line in order to get unlimited internet. Anyone have any issues concerning Roadrunner?

She went back home finally on Friday. She'd been gone since July 1st. She'll have a home nurse thankfully.

Ive never used any of the tablets except iPad. I'd recommend it, but I dont own one, nor do I know how the competition stacks up.

I made the decision to with droid after seeing the 4.0 operating system.

I think in October we're all going to make the switch over to droid phones, specifically the samsung galaxy III and drop apple.

iTunes keeps us pissed off.

I bought my daughter a Motorola Xoom 10" tablet, and I plan on getting my son and wife Nexus 7" tablets at Xmas.

I can't deal with Apple, at all. I shake my head when I walk out my office and people are lined up around my building days before the release of some ridiculous new product line.

I also stay marveled at how the whole US has just adopted the concept of "hey, I just bought something for $150 and if the battery dies in two years I'll throw it out and buy another version!" My father would smack people in the head if he realized this was going on. Thankfully, for the heads of my various nieces and nephews, my father has been off grid since they started direct deposit right before he retired (he still is not a fan).

How does she like the Xoom? Are all these tablets wi-fi or is that extra?

wifi is pretty standard. The 3G/4G variants are the ones that shoot up the price.

So far we really like the Xoom. Haven't had to pay for an app yet so that's nice.

I chose the Xoom because it has 32gb standard, as well a micro SD slot for another 32gb, front and rear facing cameras, duo core processor, HDMI out and 1gb ram with a 10" screen. I'm not sure you can find any other tablet that offers that for sub $400.

I actually paid $249 for a reburbished unit from NewEgg.
