I know what Fox is.

Look, I carried the water around here for 15 months - a humble moderate trying to talk some sense into these far-right yabos. Now Mitt has imploded and the righties have scattered like quail and pnn is pathetically out of whack.

I feel compelled to take up their slack (hopefully for a very short time).

Any progressive tax is a redistribution of wealth, unless you are for a flat tax.

I don't see why even a flat tax should be excluded from the "redistribution" label. You take money from people and spend it elsewhere (on whatever, whether it be military, education, police, anything), that's redistribution, irregardless of how "beneficial" (or whatever word you want to use) the entities into which you distribute that tax money are considered to be for society as a whole. That's how it's always been and always will be. It's pretty much the basic definition of "tax"...

Oh, you mean like the only way the bail-outs to the auto/banking/insurance/etc industries would cost anything to the taxpayers is if those recipients defaulted? But IIRC, you were (and presumably still are) vociferously against the government loaning money to various companies in those industries. I guess it's OK to loan money (totally unsecured) to you, but god forbid that anybody else get anything. What a fucking hypocrite you are. Frankly I don't even believe you're a doctor. I just can't believe that a real doctor could possibly be as manifestly stupid as you prove yourself to be nearly every time you post. Seriously, you are about as ignorant and self-deluded of a motherfucker as I've ever had the displeasure of coming across, anywhere...

Again my understanding was the money came from the private banks (Sallie mae), but the lonas were garenteed by the gubment in case of default.

"While Sallie Mae was originally created in 1972 as a government-sponsored entity, the company began privatizing its operations in 1997, a process it completed at the end of 2004 when the company terminated its ties to the federal government. Today, the company is a publicly held, private sector company, governed by a board elected by shareholders. SLM Corporation and its subsidiaries, commonly known as Sallie Mae, are not sponsored by or agencies of the United States of America."

So the taxpayers never paid me any thing. It was just insurance if I defaulted.

My loans were from Sallie Mae until they were bought out by another company when I graduated.

Again as I have posted on here before that's what I understood it to be when I signed on the dotted line. I specifically ASKED the loan folks at the school about it before I signed for them because I had the other offers from other banks.

They told me that the banks were just promised repayment if I defaulted. Kind of like a cosigner.

That is a far cry different than taxpayers writing me a check like for GM. BTW they are still partially owned by the gubment.

I could have been told wrong, but that's how it was presented to me was it was just like them being a "cosigner" nothing more with the addition of them being forgiven if I died.

Who owned your loans before they were bought out by private banks?

Sallie Mae which I though had some gubment control but I guess they haven't for a while.

And arrogant, too. The ONLY way you could POSSIBLY default on your load was if you died?? You smug, arrogant asshole. I'm sure you really believe that, but you are so fucking arrogant and deluded that you truly believe that there is no way anything could ever befall you whereby you could not pay off tens of thousands of dollars that you do not have. Actually, you'd probably go suck dicks to raise the money to pay back your loans, and I applaud you for that. But I'm sure that's not what you meant when you said nothing but death could POSSIBLY make it such that you weren't able to pay your debts. You meant that by god you would FIND a way (short of cocksuckery) to pay that goddamn loan, b/c you are a responsible, hard-working creator who would NEVER need help "make it happen" (whatever "it" happens to be). Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and all that. Good god, your entire existence is a cliche. You're not a man, you're a cartoon....

LMBO, I don't care if you believe my existence or not. I assure you I am real and everything I have told you about me or my life is the 100% truth. I make mistakes like anyone else. I never said I was never in the 47%. Heck if I was gonna lie why not say I didn't have student loans? I haven't lied to you or anyone else on these boards.

All I have said is that percentage should be around the poverty level.

I don't see it as hypocrittical to be against spending taxpayer money by giving it to an automobile company just because I allowed the gubment to cosign for me. If not for the gubment I might could have paid cash for med school and not needed any loan if you think of it that way. Their meddling makes it immensely more expensive.

And yes, I would FIND a way to pay my debts, I always have. I always kept an eye on the student loans and their estimated payments to see if I could pay them back even if I didn't make it through medical school and had to find work in some other field.

Could it happen? Yes it could. I have children, something could happen to them or me. I have insurance and hope it doesn't but it COULD. Never said it couldn't.

Of course you would see that my planning to pay back the student loans in any event except death and planning accordingly as arrogant.

So now that the election is over and IB started Junior High, what do we argue about now? It's sorta weird that's its over this early. Maybe now we can get back to what The Goat Pen is all about.
