lincoln et al would be putting all of their eggs in getting out of the middle east once and for all by elimimnating any need for their oil. be it propane/natural gas/drilling offshore we would have no dependancy on a region where a bunch of lunatics run rampant and hold the world hostage every couple of years.

unfortuantely in our governement today we have shackled our leaders to being able to do anything and our leaders are so paralyzed with fear of losing power they welcome the impotence as an excuse to blame the other guys no matter what the scenario.

And the opposite is true. I have D friends who spoke with great passion about "Bush's" Patriot Act who don't care that it was extended by Obama. How many Rs would have honestly said anything if Bush were president and had bailed out the banks? Etc, etc."

"See my thoughts on this are not partisian at all. If the bush administration had been apologetic toward the terrorists I would have said the same thing. Doesn't matter to me who is in the White House, what matters is the action not who performed it. I was against bail outs when Bush was president and I am still against them with Oprama."

Why did you lie, AA?

He didn't lie. Just because rhetoric and partisanship aren't part of why I said what I did about being apologetic to the terrorists doesn't mean he doesn't have friends that supported bush but not obama on the bail outs and vice versa.

BTW, just for you hedge, I was against Bush and his bail outs, reckless spending etc long before I was against the Oprama bail outs. I didn't think either one should have happened. There is most likely some posts of me disagreeing with Bush about on these very boards if I had the inclination to look them up, but it might have been on the other boards.

BTW, glad to see that I agree with Sardis for once, and BRM. Both very accurate posts.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm just forgetting about the myriad of vociferous negative posts you posted against Bush. Must've just slipped my mind, I'm sure they're there...

The part about AA lying was just a goat pen meme. Make no mistake, I was sassing you and your alleged non-partisanship (funny stuff, that), not AA...

Lincoln was way ahead of his time. He wanted to send the slaves back to Africa. See, if we had followed Abe's plan, those would be our folks over there now....

Maybe we do need a modern-day Lincoln to kick the stuffing out of the Muslim religion and get them to straighten up and fly right, same as he did to our Southern forebearers. It'd be easier if the Muslims were rioting and raising hell here, though, instead of their own streets and neighborhoods half a world away. Another trifling point, for sure.
I'd settle for a president and a party a philosophy that at least discovers the ability to look at evil and call it evil. No excuse making for it. No striving to feel the pain of it. No trying to relativize it. No attempts to make their evil America's fault. That would be a welcome start.

And now, for something completely different:

Rasmussen Reports: Obama has 247 electoral college votes. Romney has 196.

FL, VA, OH, WI, IA, MO and CO and their total of 95 electoral college votes are up for grabs.

If Obama ONLY wins Florida, with its 29 electoral votes, he wins. No other battleground state is needed. Boom. Game over. If Obama doesn't win Florida but wins Ohio with its 18 votes, he only needs one more state - any state of the remaining five - to win.

Don't worry. IB sez Romney will use his Reaganesque rhetorical skills to mop the floor with Obama during the debates.

Good god, Romney just made a statement "defending" his earlier statement about 47% Americans feeling like victims and therefor voting democrat. The original statement was a train wreck of almost IB-ian proportions, but now (again, in perfect IB manner), instead of mitigating the utter stupidity of that gaffe, he exacerbates it by magnitudes with his "explanation". All we need now is IB's commentary explaining how both of "Willard's" comments were instances of brilliant, well planned political strategy. The sad thing is, IB probably believes it.

Dear god, I can't remember a politician in my lifetime that is as much of a bumbling, clueless, self-thwarting idiot than this clown Romney. What a fucking tool this guy is. No wonder IB sucks his cock every time he posts. At least somebody like, say, Gary Hart got some decent pussy out of the deal when he torpedoed his own presidential campaign. All Romney gets is to fuck his huge-pussied, 5 kids-having robot of a wife. If I wasn't laughing my fucking ass off so much at Romney and the overall state of the republican party right now, I'd feel sorry for him (and them). But I can't stop LMAO at both of them. And at the clowns in here. This is YOUR guy. Gobble his asshole, all you fake ass "conservative" faggots. You know who you are. You know, the ones who claim to be "independent, non-partisans". LMAO, in every one of your faces. My ass in your faces, laughing. Breathe deep, boys...

Speaking of IB, he has been rather scarce lately.

I wonder why.

Today I'm going to call my county courthouse and see if the ballot will allow me to write in Ron Paul.

Great article by David Brooks, who has always been one of the better conservative columnists. You know it's bad when an established, well-respected conservative commentator is comparing the republican candidate to a character from a 1960's sit-com who was an oafish, bumbling buffoon. But that's exactly what Romney is. And IB loves him. Because IB is an even bigger oafish, bumbling buffoon that Romney. Fucking BUFFOON!!!

Good god, what in the fuck has happened to the republican party?? They've been hijacked by the rabid fringe and whoever was supposed to be in charge has let the whole damn thing implode with what should have been the resistible gravity of their idiocy. They've allowed the Grand Old Party to be sabotaged by idiots. Sadly, most of the "independents" in here are precisely the people I'm talking about, either as the people who let idiots sabotage their party or as the very idiots themselves who did it. I'm not sure which one is worse. Either way, I'm LMAO....

SERIOUS QUESTION:

ABOUT ROMNEY'S GRAND DADDY WHO LIVED IN MEXICO - Was he living there to practice polygamy?
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

Does/did Mexico allow polygamy?

SERIOUS ANSWER: Who cares?
Good god, what in the fuck has happened to the republican party?? They've been hijacked by the rabid fringe
If by "rabid fringe" you are referring to the religious right and the tea party types, we are LMAO'ing at the idea that we "highjacked" the GOP. That happened only in our dreams. Our problem with Romney is that he is NOT a candidate that is very attractive to religious and tea party GOP voters. He is a horrible candidate if you care about abortion, gay marriage, gun rights, etc. And if you are a tea partier and care about fiscal sanity, then you are appalled that his history of Romneycare has rendered him a deaf-mute in attacking the ultimate budget buster, Obamacare. That's the single most unpopular accomplishment of Obama's presidency, and therefore his biggest weakness, begging to be exploited. Yet the R nominee can scarcely mention it on the campaign trail without triggering gales of laughter.

The rabid fringe sees Romney for exactly what he is - another in a series of moderate nominees that the GOP Establishment crammed down our throats and proceeded to lose. When Romney loses, blame the Establishment, not the rabid fringe. He's far more their candidate than ours.
