You know, I'm sitting here looking at the box score for the UNC game. I'm a bit worried.

They racked up 407 yards against our defense with the bulk of that comming from their passing game, 288 yards. I wasn't shocked by that as I recall them ripping some big pass plays off against our secondary. It just dawned on me if it hadn't been for those 4 INTs, this game might've been a whole lot different.

The first half in particular NCState ripped off some LONG pass plays against our secondary. During the halftime some adjustments must've been made, or perhaps the secondary had worked out their fist game jitters, and things started to look better during the second half.

If our secondary doesn't improve and/or this game doesn't show itself to be a fluke in this regard, then teams with an above average passing game will tear us a new one.

On the bright side, I am stunned the number of penalties in the game, by both teams, were so low: a total of 3 penalaties with UT getting 2. That's awesome for the first game or any game for that matter. They say that's a sign of a well coached team. Coolness!!

Ah Freak.

New defensive coordinator, new 3-4 scheme, new NG and RG, new CB and Safety, new DL, LB, and Secondary coaches versus a State offense mostly intact that averaged 40+ points in their last 5 games.

Don't worry; be happy.

Yeah, you are right. Well before this season started we knew we had problems and we were not a championship team of any sort.

After this game, some in here and in the press were talking about how good we did. Some even proclaimed us to be pretty good. I was feeling pretty good and decided to glance at the box score which lead to a reality check and brought me back down to planet Earth. The thing was the offensive yards we allowed them to get. As stated, if their QB hadn't been kind enough to give us those 4 INTs, the game would have been closer. Heck, we may have lost!

Perhaps something good came of the expansion... anything that puts the TSIO back on a third Saturday can't be all bad.

Bill Curry brings his 4th team into Neyland. I feel a debt to Ga. State for getting him off TV.

Heh...so true.
Deep thought of the day: "I was adopted. I thank my birth mother every day for not aborting me (although I wouldn't doubt her decision if she did)."

I say 10 -- 9 regular season + the bowl game.
