In real time it caused a firestorm.

Besides McNulty, String was easily viewed as the star of the show. Stars don't punch out in the middle of a show's life (except Charlie Sheen). People just couldn't believe it could happen. There are probably some people now who are finally coming to grips with the fact that Bell isn't coming back.

Everyone loves the wire....except Baltimore. That has to be the worst 5 years of PR dropped on any city since the plague on London.

I loved Colvin and Hamsterdam. That seems like an idea I would come up with and then be stunned when everyone was mad at me. How they did that, with the scenery and the number of actors is really amazing for a TV series. That was some serious money going into that show.

I don't think the production costs were that high. Everyone loves The Wire....except Baltimore politicians.

The people of Baltimore loved the show and many of them acted in it for little to no money. Also, staging the location of Hamsterdam wasn't that difficult. There were plenty of dilapidated areas to film in Baltimore back then. I bet James Cameron spent more in one week of filming Avatar than The Wire cost in all 5 seasons combined.

yea, you're probably right.

My niece went to some art school in Baltimore. If I had watched The Wire while she was there I think I would have moved her.

Yeah, but you also have to realize that Baltimore (I know this because I did a 1 year bid...I like to use jailhouse parlance for this...at an investment firm early out of college) is probably one of the most segregated "major" East Coast cities I've ever seen. It's tucked between Philly and DC and acts like neither.

White Baltimore (downtown, Fell's Point, Towson) is a 1,000 miles away from West Baltimore or Eastside. While I was there, I didn't see anything like the show...although it was definitely going on.

Another Note

Simmons did a sequel bracketology...no way I would put anything close to Godfather II. Nothing.

Preston Bodie Broadus...the greatest spitter in all of television. He didn't go out on his knees, though.

I don't understand people who post their marital problems on facebook. If my shit was falling apart at home , facebook would be the last place I'd be talking about it.

Heh. I told my wife about your peppermint penis. She told me and said it sounded like something I would do.

I still think its a brilliant and very thoughtful idea.

goddammit, I missing out on sex toy money. A whole of line of flavors - peppermint, butterscotch, vanilla, chocolate, bubblegum....they can come in a tube and I'll call them "Dick Dippers"..or maybe a can like contact cement with a brush inside the can connected to the lid.

that is money in the bank

Okay if you are going to call them Dick Dippers, then it should come in a jar not a tube.

Bubblegum? Going for a bit of the younger demographic?

bubble gum is probably a bad idea anyways as it would invoke a reflexive chewing action

the more I think about this the better idea it is - men would love me

"Yo, Denise, if'n I bought some of that dick paint that tastes like candy, would you suck my dick then?"

see, then we could not only make it flavored but also make it in non-toxic colors like neon yellow!

I am the Zuckerburg of flavored dicks!
