Auburn is becoming the new Athens, but with far fewer night clubs.

Here is Professor Tiger's official assessment of the 2012-13 season:

Auburn is a team with a rapidly growing stockpile of talent at most positions. Auburn is also a team with modest proven experience at most positions. We know Chizik and his staff can recruit with any other program. But this year we will find out if Chizik and his staff can transform their talent into wins against top programs.

If Auburn wins all the games we are supposed to win, and a couple we aren't supposed to win, then Chizik will take his place among the elite coaches in the country. But if we get blown out again by the better teams on our schedule, then Chizik runs the risk of becoming another Fulmer or Richt - a coach who amasses great talent, but who falters in big games and therefore usually disappoints.

Chizik just announced our starting O-line and depth chart. It's kinda scary.

At center, the suspended Reese Dismukes is replaced by sophomore Tunde Fariyike, who nobody has ever heard of.

Wow. The good news is, of those six freshmen, four are 4 stars and two are 5 stars. When they grow up, this will be an NFL line. But until they grow up (probably this whole season), our offense is going to struggle big time.

Congrats to Clemson. Their skill position players will all play on Sunday.

I was happy the way our young O-line played. They - along with new star FB Prosch - opened some nice holes in our newly rediscovered power running game. That was nice to see. Frazier had some great moments and some duds. Not bad for his first start as a true sophomore. He'll get better.

My biggest concern was our D-line. This was supposed to be our biggest strength, but they did not play particularly strong against a young Clemson O-line. They got very close to sacking Boyd many times, but rarely did. Clemson's Malzahn-style, trickeration offense seemed to keep them off-balance. Our LB's looked like previous years - fast but small - and needing help to bring down power runners. The secondary played okay - better than the confusion they displayed under Roof. We're also lucky Clemson dropped so many passes.

On to Starkville.

Well, if it wasn't for idiots, I would be out of a job. So long as people want to have sex and get married, my family law practice will keep going, and the criminal defense practice is doing well too. I am fortunate. I am not getting rich right now, but I am very lucky.

There appears to be a lot more sex than marriage going on. Less divorce, more child support?

And don't do TOO good of a job as a criminal defense attorney. I need my job.
