And on a personal note– a little girl grows up in Jim Crow Birmingham – the most segregated big city in America - her parents can’t take her to a movie theater or a restaurant – but they make her believe that even though she can’t have a hamburger at the Woolworth’s lunch counter – she can be President of the United States and she becomes the Secretary of State. Yes, America has a way of making the impossible seem inevitable in retrospect. But of course it has never been inevitable – it has taken leadership, courage and an unwavering faith in our values.

Still love it when libs are caught in the act of being libs.....

Yahoo News' Washington bureau chief David Chalian was fired on Wednesday after a hot-mic incident during an online broadcast from the GOP convention in Tampa. Media watchdog NewsBusters was first to post audio of the incident. Politico broke the news of his firing. Chalian later apologized for his remarks.

During the broadcast, Chalian can be heard saying that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife Ann were "not concerned at all" and "happy to have a party with black people drowning." Chalian seemed to be referring to the simultaneous occurrence of the GOP convention convening in Tampa and Hurricane Isaac hammering its way across the gulf coast and through New Orleans.

RNC tv ratings down significantly from 2008. Overall ratings down 42%. Even Fox's ratings are down 15%, so people aren't simply watching on another channel; they just aren't watching, period.

This will be a defining image of the presidential race. Romney holding a dinner for million dollar contributors aboard a 110 ft yacht flying a Cayman flag. As bad as Obama has been for the middle class this is just a big middle finger to those of us that are struggling. Fuck Romney and Obama. Vote Johnson.

Where's Romney's face in that picture?

That's like a picture of Air Force One, with a caption saying, "From the sixth window on the left, President Bush is looking down on New Orleans right after Katrina. You can't see him, but he's there," or a picture of an M-1 tank saying "Michael Dukakis is inside this tank, trying to look pro-defense, but instead looking like Snoopy."

Without Romney's face, this picture is a giant dud.

Do you really think that there has to be a picture of Romney shaking hands on the gangplank for that ship to resonate? At best it's very poor judgement, he's supposed to fighting the image that he doesn't relate to the average person, so he holds a dinner for millionaires on a boat carrying a foreign flag to avoid taxes? Brilliant.

Wait. Nevermind. Good job, I got trolled.

He's also trying to deflect accusations that he himself hides a lot of money overseas in tax havens and he's out living it up with fellow millionaires on a huge Caymans yacht

Well, there is that. but most of us dont have access to the same breaks he does. The only way he loses this election is by alienating a middle class that is pissed off at obama. Flying a Cayman flag on his 30 million dollar yacht is a good way to do that. Have the same dinner in the penthouse suit and it's not an issue. This is the rich flaunting their wealth. Rubbing voters nose in it isnt a good way to win votes.

Yes. Absolutely.

I see a really nice yacht with an unfamiliar flag. That's it. Somebody can say that Romney is somewhere on board hobnobbing with his fellow multi-millionaires. But I look at the picture again, and still just see a yacht.

That picture might as well say "Senator Gary Hart is on board the good ship "Monkey Business" banging Donna Rice!" but all that is there is a yacht.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on this if I were you.

Why is the middle class pissed off with Obama? Like i posted before, my portfolio is finally back to where it was 5 years ago. That's a good thing that after only 3 years in office Obama got us back on track from the GWB2 fiasco. And that was while he had to deal with a Congress majority who blocked everything he proposed because their party lost to not only a Dem, but a black Dem. These past 3 years the Repubs have acted like bitter ex wives. Just because they enjoy fucking with you, not even caring how it affects the kids. Just because. Mitt is NOT what America needs right now. Not at this time. His time was back when Bush fought Gore and the economy was on fire. That's what he's good at. Profit. He's out of touch with todays middle class and I understand that. I've witnessed people I grew up with change with money. Theirs or their parents once they croaked. At this point in our countrys future we need to stabilize the middle class first because that is the majority or at least the common goal just to be an average American living the American life as our fathers wanted.

Im not sold on Obama either but Im gonna vote for him because 1) There's only 2 to pick from and 2) Believe it or not America is moving forward. Clinton fixed America, Bush 2 thanked his friends and made you have to work 12 more years before retirement. Obama has at least cut that wait in half. Think McCain would have done that?

They are pissed off rat because that "fiasco" was nothing of the kind. In early 2008, the unemployment rate was just over 4%. A year earlier, same low rate. A year earlier than that, same low rate. In 2005, anyone who wanted a job, had one. At its worst, 6% unemployment (at 9-11 and the end of 2008.) Our President could only DREAM of a 6% unemployment rate at ANYTIME during his administration.

Your portfolio is back? Good for you. My portfolio is back to where it was at the end of Clinton's last year. Yes rat, the stock market has made NO PROGRESS in over ten years. And what do you say to all the people whose portfolio was so highly tied to the value of their home that they don't have anymore? Those are your middle class people, and yes they have reason to be pissed.

In 2001, the Salt Lake Games were certainly on fire. They were on fire as they almost burned up and disappeared. How much profit was there for Mitt in saving the 2002 Olympics? Who profitted from that other than Olympic athletes and the whole world? Mitt took no pay.

With a $3 billion dollar deficit, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was also "on fire." Who came in to put it out? Certainly not Senator Obama. Massachusetts "profited" from Romney's time as Governor. Again, Mitt took no pay, not a dime. He did it because he wanted to help. he had already made his millions.

That is the reason why he wants to be President, to help us. He'll take NO PAY. He'll just do it for us. He is goood at saving things that are doomed (like our country.) He is absolutely POSITIVELY what we need right now.

No, I do not think McCain would have us in a good place. But where we are right now is a disaster. And no, it is not all the President's fault. But he most certainly has NOT helped the situation.

Look vote for whoever you want. Its a free country. But don't sit there and tell me that you are voting to re-elect our President because our country is moving forward. It most certainly IS NOT, not unless you think going on welfare (and never having to work) is moving forward, or if you think telling everyone that poor people have to pay another tax (a tax for not having health insurance) is moring forward. You are voting to re-elect the President because you don't like Republicans. You are voting to re-elect the President because you are bitter and you have less in life than you feel you are entitled.

Rat, I'm sorry you had a terrible marriage. I'm sorry your ex-wife tried to destroy you. I'm sorry that your mother is in so much pain. I'm sorry for all the shit that you have been through. But this President we have now, we can do better. Willard Mitt Romney is much better. I'm sorry if you can't see what is so plainly obvious for so many people.
