Wisconsin AD says Roy is a big pussy
Former University of Wisconsin athletic director Pat Richter is miffed at the timing and location of the Badgers' first-ever matchup against North Carolina in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, and it's safe to assume he and Tar Heels coach Roy Williams aren't exchanging Christmas cards.

In comments taped for his weekly radio show on WTLX-FM/100.5 and made public in advance of air time, Richter takes the Challenge's scheduling process to task. And he asserts that Williams, who remains an unpopular character locally a decade after ripping the Badgers' style of play in their 2000 Final Four appearance, "won't come to Madison" and ensures that aim by unduly influencing the decision-makers at ESPN and the respective conferences.

"It still is a joke," said Richter, whose full comments can be heard Wednesday at 6 p.m. on WTLX. "I know darn well that you'll never get Roy Williams here. He won't come to Wisconsin; he's afraid the people are going to boo him and everything else. I think that's all bogus."

Richter notes that after the UW-UNC matchup was bypassed in the first 12 editions of the Challenge, it finally comes to pass at a time when a loaded North Carolina team will open the season in the Top 5; ESPN.com senior college basketball analyst Andy Katz slotted the Tar Heels at No. 1 in his recent rankings.

Meanwhile, the Badgers, though ranked No. 11 by Katz and riding a 13-season streak of NCAA tournament appearances, will be regrouping after veteran post players Jon Leuer and Keaton Nankivil exhausted their eligibility.

The game, which is the first-ever regular-season matchup between the programs, will be held Nov. 30 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Of course, Larry Bird agrees completely with what I've been saying for years. Zeller will be the best pro player off of the current Carolina squad...

"Think for a second about being Tyler Zeller on this random Tuesday in May.

Every day is a pretty good day right now for Zeller. He is rolling around Chapel Hill, North Carolina as a big man on campus, both literally and figuratively, enjoying the warm weather, knocking out some summer classes while preparing to help lead the Tar Heels back to the top of the heap in the upcoming NCAA hoops season.

Then word trickles in that Larry Bird, yes Larry Legend from French Lick, IN a small town less than 40 miles away from your home town of Washington, IN, had this to say in a press conference today:

"I don't think this is a very strong draft. I think there will be some players that do well in our league, but there's a lot of kids that didn't come out. I think I made the statement that I like Ty Zeller, he's going back to school. He didn't come out. Damn."

"Roy, you have to say, has found a way to toe that line and get the best of both worlds. What can you say about next year's Carolina team? Sure, luck is involved; you could argue that Barnes would never have stuck around if his season had started the way it ended. But now, Roy has his perfect mix of four year guys and raw talent. He found an ideal NCAA point guard in Kendall Marshall, a guy who has already proved his excellence at the college level and yet lacks the natural gifts to go early to the pros. He has the best big man tandem in the country in Zeller and Henson, two guys who complement each other's gifts, an offensive and defensive specialist. He got Barnes to return, a guy who could compete for Player of the Year. And he's got a supporting cast of returning players and fresh recruits from which, at any point, a star might emerge.

And he also seems to have perfectly bridged the racial line. He feeds the UNC dixie faithful their Hansbroughs and Zellers, but he also gets the best black players from all walks of life, and he does it while maintaining UNC's strong academic reputation. He's halfway between Coach K and Calipari. Or, better yet, he's standing solidly atop the mountain while those rivals are trying to scramble up the rocky slopes on either side."

Well, whatever else you can say about Roy, it's certainly true that when he has the horses he let's em run. And next year, he's got thoroughbreds....

Important news from the state of Texus. aTm... comments ?

Bill Would Allow Texans to Catch Fish by Hand (AP)

AUSTIN, Texas – Texans who want to catch catfish using only their bare hands would be able to do so legally under legislation approved by the state Senate.

While budget negotiations were teetering on the brink of collapse Thursday, state senators took action to legalize hand fishing, called noodling, in Texas. Right now the fine is $500 for noodling in Texas.

The bill would require "noodlers" to have a fishing license and freshwater fishing stamp.

Enduring joking questions from fellow senators, bill sponsor Sen. Bob Deuell said he's never noodled, but that the bill needed to be passed for the "noodlers of Texas."

The measure was already passed by the House and is headed for Gov. Rick Perry's desk, where his signature would make it law.

TMZ spoke with Randy's brother, Lanny Poffo, who tells us the wrestling legend suffered a heart attack while he was behind the wheel around 9:25 AM ... and lost control of his vehicle.

Earlier this month, Savage celebrated his 1-year anniversary with his new wife Lynn.

Savage was 58.

Macho Man began wrestling in the WWF in 1985 and became a superstar with his trademark catchphrase "Ooooooh Yeaahhhhh."

UPDATE: Florida Highway Patrol tells TMZ ... Savage was driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler when he veered across a concrete median ... through oncoming traffic ... and "collided head-on with a tree."

Savage was transported to Largo Medical center, where he died from his injuries.

People act like we just we just had a program watershed because we hired an assistant coach.

The Wisky Pussy AD is still pissed at Roy for calling them out for their miserable offensive display at the 2000 Final Four. 19-17 at halftime is embarrassing for a middle school chickball score.

Guy isn't even the current AD. Left in 2004. Still butthurt over Roy making fun of that awful MSU-Wisky tourney game in 2000.

Spoke too soon. That 8th inning tonight was about the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Francona got cute, trying to steal outs with the bottom of our BP, after Aceves gives us the best game he's thrown in years.

Why the fuck didn't he put in Bard? Geezus I'm so damn pissed at this loss. I was following it on my phone and after they scored a few runs, I knew the flood gates would open and I put that shit away. We'll ssee what Wakey has in store tomorrow, although I did hear Garza, a guy the Red Sox have had trouble with when he was in Tampa, will not pitch because of a tight elbow. They better not get swept by the damn Indians again in the next series.
